Description

The HR Compliance Associate helps to manage and mitigate risk by ensuring regulatory and policy compliance related to client human capital systems. This position works on a highly collaborative, client-facing team to execute regular tasks associated with maintaining personnel compliance. In addition to managing processes associated with hiring and worker classification, the HR Compliance Associate is involved in creating and managing risk assessment and audit programs and researching legal and regulatory obligations. The HR Compliance Associate also works with cross-departmental teams to translate regulatory requirements into systems and processes; monitors the effectiveness of controls designed to meet obligations on a regular, and ongoing basis; and develops and tracks process improvements to mitigate risk. These projects may be driven by new legal and regulatory requirements, geographies, types of business, solution implementations, or emerging risk issues, among other things.

Essential Responsibilities

  • State Registration and Filing Completion
  • Reconciliation and submission of all MOHR Invoices and back-up to MOFI
  • Routine and ad-hoc personnel reporting including time reporting, demographic reporting, COVID-19 and other leave trackers, and regulatory filings

Other Responsibilities

  • Respond in an accurate and timely manner to all client-facing inquiries assigned via the MOHR Case Management system.
  • Work cooperatively with various team members to ensure implementation and management of MOHR processes designed for regulatory compliance
  • Research regulatory reference materials and obtains advice from regulatory agency staff, legal counsel and compliance associates.
  • Analyze new and pending laws and regulations which directly affect the company’s practices.
  • Draft assessment reports detailing results, and controls recommendations
  • Assist Director in institution, maintenance and revision of appropriate policies, procedures, contracts, and agreements to ensure compliance.
  • Compile, format and submit data reports for various MOHR required internal and external filings
  • Troubleshoot issues and solve problems independently or escalate when necessary
  • Manage other HR risk and compliance related projects as assigned

To Be Successful in This Role, You’ll Need:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 2-3 years of HR compliance experience
  • Working knowledge of current and upcoming HR legislation, relevant tax laws and the like
  • Working knowledge of multi-state worker classification rules, including FLSA classification, and independent contractor vs. employee distinctions
  • Proficiency in Salesforce, Microsoft SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Strong research skills
  • Ability to think critically
  • Outstanding organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong client service and interpersonal skills such as tact and diplomacy
  • Highly effective at communicating analysis, recommendations, and conclusions
  • Ability to draft high-quality correspondence and written materials

While this position must be based in <<x office location city>>, please note that due to COVID-19, all Arabella Advisors' offices are closed, and we remain a remote-first organization until further notice.
