About the Sustainable Apparel Coalition
The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) is an industry-wide group of more than 250 leading apparel, footwear, and textile, brands, retailers, suppliers, service providers, trade associations, nonprofits, NGOs, and academic institutions working to reduce the environmental and social impacts of products around the world.

Through multi-stakeholder engagement, the SAC seeks to lead the industry toward a shared vision of sustainability built upon a common approach for measuring and evaluating apparel, footwear, and textile product sustainability performance delivered by the Higg Index that spotlights priorities for action and opportunities for technological innovation.

The SAC was incorporated as a 501(c)6 nonprofit organization and launched the groundbreaking Higg Index suite of tools in 2011.

The Opportunity

The Sustainable Apparel Coalition is in search of an ambitious and innovative Senior Manager of HR to join their fast-paced international sustainability non-profit organization. S/he will support the leadership team, reporting to the Director of Operations, in developing and coordinating the activities and policies related to HR for all employees. This is an excellent opportunity for a globally-experienced manager to help shape the HR department for this impactful organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organizational Design
  • Design and manage the HR department through systems, roles, and internal expectations in collaboration with the leadership team
  • Partner with department heads to design job descriptions and key factors of success for each role
  • Design and manage processes of succession planning
  • Manage and nurture organizational culture

 

  • Recruitment and Retention
  • Manage active recruiting from job posting through interviews and recommendations
  • Manage passive recruiting process including updates to JazzHR, LinkedIn, and working with recruitment agencies as needed
  • Design and manage ongoing recruiting activities including partnering with department heads to ensure that strategic roles are identified, maintaining recruiter relationships, and continuing to realign all activities with strategic plans of the organization
  • Manage performance review process including assisting the leadership team and department heads with timely performance evaluations

 

  • Administration and Compliance
  • Implement & oversee HRIS and provide training and technical support to users
  • Manage payroll, bonuses and other payouts for teams across geographies
  • Work with PEO and GEO for management of international employees
  • Manage benefit enrollment & administration (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, workers comp, FSA, HSA, 401K) (US)
  • Administer COBRA (US)
  • Serve as primary contact with plan vendors and 3rd party administrators
  • Manage retirement/pension/401k plans
  • Update employee manuals
  • Provide VOE’s as requested
  • Ensure required employee record retention
  • Coordinate with employment and immigration attorneys
  • Manage all aspects of the onboarding and offboarding process including writing offer letters, setting up new employees’ benefits, and conducting exist interviews

Qualifications, Experiences, and Attributes
Ideal candidate has:

  • 10+ years of HR experience with at least 7 years of experience as a generalist
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in HR or management
  • Master’s degree in business, human resources or related field preferred
  • Experience with Google Business Suite
  • Experience with Asana, Slack and other project management web apps
  • A growth mindset and proven dedication to team development
  • Ability to create and maintain strong rapport with an international remote team across eight countries and timezones
