Description

Apolitical is a learning network for government. Our mission is to make government work better for people and the planet. We equip policymakers with the knowledge, skills and community they need to solve the world’s hardest challenges. Our platform is used by more than 100,000+ public servants and policymakers in 170 countries, with members ranging from mayors, ministers and heads of state to millennials pioneering digital innovations.

Your role:

1. Design the experience of our learning offerings from a community perspective. This will include defining how we use features like forums, overseeing the design and delivery of online events and social activities. It will also mean ensuring that systems such as email delivery can scale significantly, whilst still retaining their delight for learners. You will manage at least one Community Manager, who will support you on the delivery of our paid learning experiences.

2. Build partnerships that serve our community. You will build relationships with expert partners who can serve our community's learning needs - this currently means engaging institutions who can co-create courses with us, but down the line could also include syndicating expert partnerships for speaking events, mentoring or question+answer-style platform features. Your role will be to build trust, identify opportunities and shape high level proposals, before transitioning ownership to the Instructional Design Lead or COO/Director of Sales as appropriate.

Requirements

  • 3+ years (5+ preferred) in communications, partnerships, events, community, online education, marketing, product engagement or a similar field
  • An interest in community management and leading social activities online
  • Big picture thinking - you are designing a premium community management function not just for today, but for a few years into the future when our membership is several times the size
  • An eye for detail - you’ll be on the frontline of sending out communications to senior public servants all over the world, as well as crafting project proposals for strategic partners
  • Excellent skills with online tools and systems
  • Excellent time management and a great ability to juggle multiple, fast-paced projects
  • To enjoy assessing the effectiveness of your effort by analysing quantitative data
  • To be confident and calm under pressure, you’ll communicate well with a diverse range of audiences, including senior leaders and decision makers
  • An interest in learning design and/or in policy - if you see upskilling the public service as an enormous lever for change, this is the role for you!
  • Fluent English

Bonus if you have

  • Experience with HubSpot or other email marketing software
  • Exposure to government or a related space
  • Proficiency in written and spoken French, Spanish, or Portuguese
  • Exposure to technology start-ups, in particular product teams

Salary: £38,000 - £50,000, depending on experience
