General Purpose:
The Accounting Manager reports directly to the VP, Finance & IT, and directs and oversees all operational accounting functions of the organization, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of day to day operations. Responsible for the creation and analysis of monthly financial reports and annual budgeting materials that provide an accurate financial picture of the company’s current financial state and provides the basis for the development of financial strategies for the company. This is an onsite position.

Supervision Received: VP, Finance & IT
Essential Functions:
Staff Management: Manages the Finance Department staff
Accounting: Directs and oversees all accounting operations
Finance: Responsible for preparation and analysis of routine financial reporting
AR and AP: Manages and oversees all AR and AP processes
Payroll: Responsible for payroll, payroll taxes and benefit reporting requiring payroll information.
Duties / Responsibilities to accomplish Essential Functions:
Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Leadership and Collaboration:
- Actively supports a culture of accountability in a professional, proactive and strategic manner while embracing the values and culture of Klean Kanteen.
- Continuously encourages growth, improved efficiencies, and best practices from the finance department.
- Fosters a culture of transparency to the team, independent rep groups, retail partners, and consumers of Klean Kanteen.
- Follows and improves departmental processes and procedures
- Measures and monitors progress against objectives and performance targets
Staff Management:
- Hires, inspires, coaches and sets accountability measures for all direct reports
- Responsible for managing team performance through monthly 1:1s with staff, goal development, peer feedback, bi-annual performance reviews and annual merit increase recommendations
Accounting & Finance:
- Develops, implements, and maintains accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely accounting.
- Prepares general ledger entries and all month end, quarter end and year end closings and reconciliations
- Performs thorough GL departmental expense review and balance sheet account reconciliations on a routine basis
- Performs bank reconciliations, audits and tax preparations
- Provides financial information to banks and management for capital requirements.
- Provides IT support on behalf of VP, Finance & IT when needed.
- Monitors and reviews cash flow closely with VP, Finance & IT
- AR and AP
- Oversees, monitors and evaluates all functions of AR and AP staff
- Works closely with AR staff to review customer AR aging analysis weekly
- Manages routine AR and AP reporting and analysis with department staff
Payroll:
- Processes company-wide payroll and payroll tax calculations for each payroll cycle
- Prepares and submits all employee benefits payroll deductions
- Prepares and provides reports that require confidential payroll information
Job Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skill and Ability:
- Strong, working knowledge of business and financial and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and practices
- Ability to identify areas for improvement and implement such improvements applying a working knowledge of GAAP
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proven analytical, research, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Has mastery of EXCEL / excellent spreadsheet skills
- Excellent ability to manage and develop direct report staff across all accounting functions
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Ability to see the role in the broader context of the business and how it can best support the overall strategic direction of Klean Kanteen
- Ability to identify and/or develop effective and efficient systems to support objectives
- Able to work independently; self-starter and self-motivated.
Education or Formal Training/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or CPA preferred
- 3-5 years relevant, high-level accounting management experience preferred.
- SAGE experience preferred.

- Standard business / cubicle environment
- Bending, and reaching forward, sideways, and overhead
- Finger dexterity to perform functions on computer, 10-key and to access files.
- Sitting for long periods at a time
