Description

Are you looking to make a difference in the world?

Join the Reconome team, we’re passionate about the Circular Economy and we’re creating a long-term sustainable model to solve digital poverty by remanufacturing electronics.

We have an amazing opportunity for the right individual to help shape Reconome’s Operations, Logistics, Warehouse Management and scale-up its systems, helping manage its transition into a significantly larger, international player in the remanufacturing of end-user electronics like laptops and smartphones.

You’ll be central to shaping and scaling our operating model, helping make the world of IT more sustainable, and creating a big, global impact.

You will enjoy a high degree of autonomy and responsibility, while being part of a supportive expert team.

About the Company:

Our ambition is to become a successful global electronics refurbishing company, and to use our Circular Economy business model to guarantee equal access to technology in a planet-friendly way. Our ambition is to create a long-term sustainable supply chain for affordably priced computing equipment, so that everyone can benefit from technology. Over 90% of our refurbished equipment goes to schools, charities and SMEs.

With a structurally lower cost base, vertical integration and purpose-driven approach, Reconome is becoming an authority in the Circular Economy and is rapidly growing in the electronics market. We deployed over 5000 refurbished devices in 2020.

What types of projects will I be working on?

  • The Reconome ERP system will power everything we do. Support the initial evolution of our processes from Google Sheets into our dedicated software platform Odoo. On-the-ground feedback and iteration will be essential to turn this into a full blown internal product.
  • Continue to build-up a robust end-to-end process for the Operations and Engineering functions of the business - including but not limited to - inventory management, returns, spares/parts (inventorize, track), packing speed and quality, labour efficiency and preliminary device sortation accuracy.
  • Support Engineering by knitting together the core Warehouse Operations functions from inbound collections right through to outbound B2C/B2B sales.
  • Manage and control the B2C/B2B Collection and Logistics Operational functions - 3PL bookings, inbound asset management, sortation, quality control, picking/packing and dispatch.
  • Assist in the development of our relationships with a wide range of 3PLs (Same Day, Carrier, Freight) as well as our specialist recycling partners in order to scale this business nationally and internationally.
  • Aim to reduce customer returns (especially due to incorrect descriptions or breakages in transit) to zero all day every day!! For the returns we do have - continually evolve the most efficient and cost effective way to control the logistics in order to reduce friction and wasted time across all core functions of the business - daily evaluation, auditing and continual improvement via detailed weekly debriefs on “what went wrong” and “how do we do better” are key.
  • Standardise, monitor and regulate the full end-to-end process of Reconomes electronics waste management and recycling strategy in conjunction with the Sustainability team (and the objectives they set out for the company).
  • Data, analysis and dashboard reporting all fall under the remit of Operations - you will help set KPIs using this knowledge. We are building this from the ground up so it’s imperative we fail fast and make positive change even quicker!
  • Part of our success will be intrinsically tied to the organisation, management and discipline of the physical space we operate in at our warehouses - you will be working with the team on developing this core aspect with an obsessive level of detail!
  • Establish solid onboarding and training programs for new team members both on the physical aspect of the work but also on the digital platforms and how we use them as a team, ie ERP, Slack, Asana etc.

What skills will I need?

  • Good grasp of workflows; and cutting down repetition, redundancy, unnecessary touch points, and helping teams work effectively
  • You’re keen to constantly improve processes and your environment, including the way you work and interact with colleagues
  • You love spreadsheets and can use them to an advanced level to prove a concept, make sure everyone is aligned on specific data and inventory needs and help playback information to clients in a coherherent manor
  • You see this on every Operations job description but we really mean it! You MUST have outstanding organisational qualities and attention to detail. This is an essential skill set as we lay the foundations towards a best in class service.
  • Critical thinking when it comes to prioritising the key problems to solve in order to continually improve the company's needs now vs the “nice to haves” which will make us great tomorrow.
  • Excellent people skills - whether that be liaising with the team to build our best-in-class workflows, speaking with 3PL partners, interacting with our Engineers on hardware processes or inspiring our Operations associates to continually improve.
  • You have a desire to be part of the solution and not the problem when it comes to the environmental situation we are facing in our world - using technology to solve these issues is something that makes you spring out of bed in the morning!

What are the “nice to haves”?

  • SQL knowledge and experience with data analysis software such as Periscope or Tableau.
  • A background in electronics, automotive, aerospace or manufacturing industries.
  • Process mapping and ERP implementation.
  • Experience at a ground level startup that was able to scale up due to a best-in-class Operations process.
