POSITION PURPOSE:

The Global Public Relations Manager will be responsible for powering Intrepid’s global PR strategy, acting as an internal journalist to develop impactful brand stories and increasing Intrepid’s earned media results across traditional and new media and elevating our brand purpose and corporate advocacy.

This role will focus primarily on the development and execution of consumer-facing global pitches and press releases to support our regional PR managers and agencies. This role will also be tasked with developing a new media strategy to secure opportunities outside of traditional travel media including expanded lifestyle verticals as well as podcasts, social media lives and more. Working closely with the Customer team, Commercial team, regional PR managers, and Corporate Communications, the role will be responsible for getting major product launches, purpose initiatives and other stories ready to take to market. This role will require creative thinking around global events and world news, being able to quickly identify and generate stories opportunities that will drive earned media and help us build a high volume of compelling stories.

As a member of the Global Public Relations & Communications team, this role contributes directly to the wider departmental goal of growing, developing and maintaining a strong public image and brand sentiment as the best travel company FOR the world. The role will champion purpose initiatives with the core responsibility for translating Intrepid’s values into successful external focused content and campaigns that demonstrate our commitment to drive action and change.

This role can be located in either the UK or North America.

The Global Public Relations Manager will execute key priorities including:

Execute and help develop a global PR strategy to increase our earned media opportunities
Create pitches and press releases to provide the regional PR teams & agencies for distribution
Manage the global storytelling pipeline capturing our key product, people and purpose news
Build a “new media” strategy to increase Intrepid’s presence in podcasts, live social broadcasts and non-traditional verticals
Partner with the Global Social Media Manager and regional PR teams on press and media trips that not only include traditional journalists but also external content creators, activists and people of influence to increase brand awareness and public image
Lead and coordinate global press trips with journalists from all over the world
Report on our global PR results and amplify these stories internally and within our online communities

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years high level experience working in a communications role, preferably in an agency with international clients or working in-house for a large international organisation
  • Creative storyteller with a deep understanding of the intersection of traditional PR, social media and new media
  • Experience working across multiple brands, developing and implementing strategic communications plans across a variety of mediums
  • Proven ability to secure large earned media features in the world’s most influential publication
  • Demonstrated ability to lead brand advocacy and purpose communications
  • Expert creative storyteller with a strong command of how to compose compelling brand narratives

OTHER SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, specfiiclaly tailored to pitches and release writing
  • Proven experience with stakeholder management at all levels
  • Strong familiarity with online marketing best practice and new/emerging media
  • Ability to work autonomously whilst managing multiple projects and competing deadlines
  • A flexible approach and a willingness to work nonstandard business hours
  • Ability to write professionally for a varied audience
  • Strategic thinker with a positive ‘can do’ attitude and desire to learn
  • Highly self-motivated, willing to experiment, thrives on change
