WordPress Front-end Web Developer
Remote/hybrid; Full-time (5 days/week); permanent.

What we’re looking for
We’re looking for a front-end website developer with plenty of WordPress experience to help bring our clients’ missions to life on the web. This position requires a combination of development skills and design knowledge, as well as a solid understanding of industry trends and content management systems. Experience with responsive and adaptive design is a must. Also, an understanding of the entire web development process, including design, development, and deployment is necessary.
For this role, we are only hiring Canadian citizens, permanent residents, Canadian residents with a valid work permit, or persons granted refugee status in Canada. You must be legally allowed to work in Canada according to Canadian legislation and regulations.
As our Front-End Web Developer, you’ll have several key responsibilities:
Be the source of expertise and guidance for our team and our clients on everything web.
Building wireframes and prototypes based on designs or sketches.
Building and implementing new features and functionality.
Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS.
Handling hosting, maintenance, and updates for WordPress websites.
Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme and plugin.
Creating WordPress training material and providing live training to clients.
Auditing existing websites and advising clients on web strategies and solutions that we can implement.
Assist the sales team in planning and estimating web projects for new clients.
What will help you be successful:
Bilingualism: you will need the ability to understand written and spoken French and English. You will also need to have excellent spoken and written skills in one of these languages, either English or French. In other words, we don’t require perfect bilingualism, just the ability to understand and accommodate colleagues and clients in the language of their choice.
3-5 years of experience building websites in a WordPress environment
Experience managing websites for an organization, including administration of hosting environments, CMS configuration and ongoing maintenance.
Expertise in front-end web development, including a strong understanding of HTML5 & CSS3. Knowledge of javascript (and related frameworks) is a plus.
Experience in configuring and managing WordPress websites. Experience with other CMS’s and platforms (e.g. Drupal, Shopify) are a plus, but not a requirement.
Strong understanding of UX/UI principles, responsive design and web development, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards.
Ability to interact professionally and effectively with a diverse group of fellow team members, clients and subject matter experts.
Attention to detail is extremely important, especially as it pertains to QA/testing and writing documentation.
Highly organized and able to work independently to complete projects on deadline (though support will always be available when needed!).
Must be able to thrive in a dynamic, rapidly changing work environment.
An eye for design. You don’t need to be a graphic designer, but you will need a strong understanding of modern web design standards. You will often be asked to look at a webpage and provide recommendations or identify areas for improvement.
Team spirit with a genuine desire to help others.
Ability to work remotely, as this is a fully remote position for the foreseeable future (due to the pandemic).

Nice to have (not required):
Experience with digital marketing or SEO best practices
Experience working with the ‘Divi’ wordpress theme
Knowledge of Experience working with PHP (or other server-side languages), MySQL, and other languages or frameworks. and Javascript
Experience with digital ad platforms (Google Ads, Facebook Ads Manager)
