Description

Purpose: Lead the accounting team in execution of all accounting- and control-related practices, including but not limited to external & internal financial reporting, internal controls, audit and compliance, book and tax accounting, as well as insurance and risk management. This position will have direct interaction with the company's third-party auditors and insurance providers, and is responsible for coordinating annual audits.

Lead Accounting & Control:

  • Manage and execute the daily operations of the Accounting department.
  • Compile and critically review accounting data in order to provide complete, materially accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Establish, maintain and update proper accounting methods, financial policies and principles.
  • Coordinate and complete annual 3rd party audit and tax preparation.
  • Continuously improve systems, policies and procedures; lead training and compliance across the company.
  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions in adherence with record retention requirements.
  • Assists in preparing miscellaneous financial documents such as lease agreements, credit card financing agreements, and general financing applications.
  • Partner w/broker in regularly reviewing company's insurance coverage and recommending changes to appropriately manage risk.
  • Assist FP&A Director and CFO/COO in the annual budgeting and planning process, as requested.
  • Serve as key user and resource for NetSuite and key integrations, as designated.
  • Demonstrated willingness to lead a group, project, or program is required.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5-7 years of increasing accounting-related experience, including staff management and financial reporting/reconciliation responsibilities. Strong knowledge and understanding of GAAP. Audit experience strongly preferred.
  • High level of integrity demonstrable by personal standards.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience in an ERP software environment. NetSuite experience strongly preferred.
  • Advanced computer skills on MS Office, Google Drive, accounting software & databases. Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
  • Willing to maintain a flexible schedule at times due to financial reporting deadlines. Must be self-motivated and exhibit the ability to work both in a team and independently.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, manage details, ensure accuracy and timeliness in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Willingness to embrace growth, change, and to be flexible with evolving processes and technology.
  • Keen critical thinking, organization and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels.

Additional Preferred:

  • Certified Public Accountant certification
  • Advanced business or finance degree (MBA, etc.)

Physical Requirements

  • This job operates in a clerical office setting, routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopies, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • This role requires the ability to sit or stand at a computer or in meetings for extended periods of time.
  • This role also requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary to complete filing.
