Reasons for being

The Marketing Manager position is responsible for achieving the company’s objective of building Mustela as the premium and conscious skincare brand for babies and mothers-to-be through driving focused, qualitative awareness and trial among our target consumer.

This position will have an active role in the brand management of the entire Mustela portfolio across all ranges. Responsibilities include product packaging, collateral development, sampling and registry initiatives, gift sets, PR, legal & regulatory matters and management of the Marketing Budget. It also includes responsibilities on building the Mustela brand story in the US (offline and online) and developing digital assets.

Due to COVID-19, this position is currently being offered on a hybrid schedule (80% remote – 20% in our NY office), and travels have been limited.

 

PRINCIPAL TASKS

Mission: Product Management

  • Build productive relationships with the Global Marketing organization “DCC” and the local product development manager to collaborate on the development of product packaging. This will entail the meticulous review and editing of packaging copy to ensure the positioning and language is consistent with the brand voice while meeting the needs of the US consumer. Define local product positioning based on market consumer research and competitive watch. Adapt HQ assets to fit US market expectations and develop local assets when needed. Develop SEO optimized copy description.
  • Obtain regulatory and legal approval for all US packaging, claim and artwork projects.

Mission: Brand Management

  • Lead PR initiatives, working closely with our PR consultant and actively supporting Influencer Coordinator to ensure activities meet the brand objectives and execution is in line with the new brand identity
  • Lead execution of CSR initiatives, including relations with B Corp USA
  • Assist with execution and creation of national and key account trade promotions in conjunction with Sales and eRetail teams.
  • Manage the creation, development, replenishment planning, forecasting, and inventory analysis for all collateral needs including literature, gift set components and premium items (GWP, promotional gift items etc…) with local and oversea vendors as well as with DCC
  • Provide marketing support at key Tradeshows and PR events as needed
  • Assist in building brand story of Mustela USA with DCC, making the brand story relevant in the US and helping with translation and simplification.
  • Assist in developing digital assets such as brand and product videos, gifs, product shots etc.
  • Support Medical Marketing manager to strengthen Mustela’s position as an expert brand within Skin care
  • Actively monitor & track Marketing budget

Mission: Promotional SKU Development

  • Manage the gift set offering to position Mustela as the premium baby skincare brand to give and to receive. That includes ensuring the existing offer stays relevant in the market and the development of additional or replacement sets as the need for an update arises.
  • Manage the development, execution, tracking and measurement of the Baby Registry Sampling Program to drive awareness and trial among target consumers. Track on-going KPI performance for coupon redemptions.
  • Oversee the management of samples for the Marketing team to include forecasting for each initiative (registry, tradeshows, PR, digital, social, etc.) as well as managing budgets, shipping and timelines.

 

POSITIONING

Reports to Senior Director of Marketing & eRetail, USA

Dimensions:

Functional relations: Collaborates closely with all departments – Sales, Digital, eRetail, Logistics, Finance, Regulatory

Responsibility for turnover: Plays an integral role to achieve annual budget and profit goals

External relations: Medical Community, business partners/agencies, vendors, consultants

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, other
  • 2-4 years of marketing or related experience in the US
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written
  • Power point and Excel skills
  • Experience with project management
  • Health & Beauty category marketing: mass or prestige, medical

Other Considerations:

  • Bi-lingual English/French helpful
  • Baby or maternity marketing experience is a plus
  • OTC marketing experience such as suncare, acne, active ingredients requiring FDA labeling
  • Resourceful, able to recommend solutions to problems
