Are you looking to start a fulfilling career with a global social enterprise? We're hiring for an entry-level marketing position with a growing global consumer packaged goods (CPG) social enterprise. The Marketing Associate will work on a cross-functional team that consists of a Trade Marketing Associate and Business Development Manager. We are looking to fill this position immediately with a start date no later than November 15th, 2017.
About Divine Chocolate
Divine Chocolate is the only Fairtrade chocolate company that is also co-owned by cocoa farmers. Kuapa Kokoo, a co-operative of over 85,000 cocoa farmers in Ghana, benefit not only from the Fairtrade premium on the sale of their beans, but also receive the largest share (44%) of Divine’s distributable profits giving the farmers more economic stability, as well as the increased influence in the cocoa industry that company ownership brings.
Position Description
- The Associate will be the primary lead on digital communications for Divine Chocolate.
- The Associate will work closely with the Trade Marketing Associate and the Sales Team to build key retailer & trade partner relationships and create initiatives that drive trial and build brand awareness among consumers who shop where Divine Chocolate is sold.
- In accordance with the Divine Chocolate brand guidelines, the Associate will coordinate the development of brand collateral.
- The Associate will support Divine’s strategic partnership plan to identify and connect with advocacy partners, company partners, and retail partners.
- The Associate will provide administrative & logistical support as needed to grow Divine’s customer base through sponsorships and events.
Primary Responsibilities
- Implement Divine’s digital communications plan, including coordinating social media campaigns, managing digital advertising opportunities, updating web content, and supporting e-commerce objectives.
- Build list of marketing contacts at retail accounts and facilitate opportunities to be included in appropriate retailer communication vehicles (e.g. retailer website & blogs)
- Develop account specific digital campaigns to encourage sampling and purchase (e.g. social media posts on retailers’ channels).
- Coordinate the development of brand assets & materials (e.g. graphics, photography, video content, brochures, etc.)
- Draft copy for relevant brand communications vehicles (e.g. announcements, e-newsletters).
- Responsible for managing donation requests and event sponsorships.
- Create and grow brand partnerships with other Fairtrade, B Corp, mission-driven companies, nonprofit organizations, retailers, and other relevant partners.
- Co-coordinate with Trade Marketing Associate to manage planning and execution of consumer events and trade shows.
- Attend, network, and serve as a Divine representative at trade shows & events.
Required Skills & Experience
- 1-2 years in a marketing role (preferably for a natural/mission-driven successful CPG company).
- Possesses knowledge and experience in the tenets of traditional marketing. Marketing degree is welcomed but not required with relevant work experience.
- Entrepreneurial and proactive with the ability to anticipate needs and initiate activity in support of business goals.
- Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios.
- Superior project management skills with ability to effectively prioritize and complete multiple and competing priorities within the prescribed timeframe.
- Superior oral and written communications skills; speaks effectively to the core consumer of natural/fair trade products.
- Exhibits the ability to jump from the creative side of marketing to analytical side, able to demonstrate why ideas are analytically sound.
- Maintains a high level of organization, creativity, attention to detail and commitment to follow through.
- Strong ability to effectively collaborate within a cross-functional team to offer support, gather information, create solutions, and recommend ideas.
- Comfortable working in a small business environment. (Please note: a remote position is not available at this time.)
- Energy and enthusiasm for the vision and mission of Divine Chocolate.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Basic graphic design & photography skills.
- Basic familiarity with website content management and tracking systems and such as Drupal and Google Analytics.
- Event planning & coordination.
