About the Role:

As the Deployment Manager for our robotic prototype program at AppHarvest, you will join a team at the forefront of AgTech, AI, and Robotics that is on a mission to develop the innovative products that will redefine sustainable farming. In the first 90 days, you can expect to establish new processes and standard methodologies to drive and improve operational efficiency while leading and mentoring a small but highly-skilled team of robotic engineers.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as the on-site point of contact for a remote team of technical and product focused stakeholders
  • Lead, train and mentor a local team of highly skilled robotic engineers
  • Work closely with a broad set of stakeholders to orchestrate robotic harvesting activities with existing greenhouse operations
  • Optimize a first-of-its-kind autonomous robotic harvesting value stream
  • Oversee Configuration and Release Management activities for new and existing robotic fleets
  • Manage ongoing repair and maintenance of robotic equipment
  • Perform root cause analysis to test and resolve operational issues, bugs, and breakages affecting robotic fleets
  • Advise product management stakeholders and technical team as the voice of the user
  • Develop new processes and standard methods to improve operational excellence

What We’re Looking For:

  • BSE or greater in relevant field (ME, EE, Mechatronics, EECS, etc.)
  • 7+ years of professional experience with the installation, and/or service work related to the deployment of custom robotic solutions
  • 5+ years’ experience managing teams of 5+ field engineers
  • 5+ years’ experience supporting and troubleshooting solutions with hardware and software components
  • Strong analytical thinking and organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to communicate about systems at multiple levels of abstraction
  • Systems design and intuition (how things could be improved)
  • Experience deploying solutions at an early stage of their overall lifecycle (at alpha or beta stages)
  • Prior experience with software / mechanical CAD / electrical CAD
  • Experienced with Configuration and Release management activities, DevOPS best practices
  • Familiarity with databases, Linux, SSH, networking, git
  • Experienced with industrial equipment safety standards
