Why this role?
Next Street’s Small Business Programs team provides direct support and high-quality advice to small businesses through innovative trainings, customized programming, and brick-and-mortar small business solutions centers. The Programs team serves over 10,000 small businesses per year. Small business trainings have become an increasingly important part of our portfolio, driven by small business demand.

We are looking for a passionate and self-motivated Curriculum Development Specialist to write our curricula, coordinate training programs, and take our trainings to the next level. You will have the opportunity to shape and develop curricula that is delivered to thousands of small businesses, equipping them with the knowledge needed to stabilize or grow their business. You will have ample responsibility from day one and will be provided the opportunity to develop and write high-quality and engaging content. Your work will consist of:

Curriculum Development (50%)

  • Write text copy for relevant curricula
  • Partner with senior-leaders to design new curricula or refine existing curricula, based on evolving small business needs
  • Apply inclusive human-centered design principles and best practices that account for equity, adult-learning needs, and that can support in-person, virtual, and hybrid environments

Training Execution (30%)

  • Execute the delivery of training programs and events, including prepping training facilitators, building run-of-show tools, scheduling, and other logistics
  • Work with various authoring tools and LMS platforms; manage assembly and delivery of curricula on LMS systems similar to Adobe Captivate, Articulate, Rise, Storyline, and more
  • Facilitate trainings to small business owners
  • Ensure curricula drives engagement

Evaluation & Improvement (20%)

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of current and future trainings through feedback and data collection instruments to make recommendations for improvement
  • Maintain training records and generate reports to support further development plans

  • You have 3 - 4 years of experience in creating and coordinating in-person and virtual trainings
  • You love to write and can demonstrate success in designing and writing training curricula
  • You have expertise with various authoring tools and LMS platforms similar to Adobe Captivate, Articulate, Rise, Storyline, and more
  • You are familiar with human-centered design principles and adult learning theories
  • You are passionate about small business and have a drive to equip them with knowledge in an effective and engaging manner
