Your main responsibilities
As O My Bag's Sustainability Superhero, here’s how you’ll make a difference:
- You’ll put our ambitious sustainability plan into action, constantly tweaking it to be even better and staying ahead of the curve. You translate recent developments, such as upcoming legislation and digital traceability platforms, into actions, whilst ensuring a frontrunner position in sustainable fashion.
- You work directly with our producers in Kolkata ๐ on guaranteeing traceability throughout our supply chain, managing certifications, improving working conditions through our annual worker surveys, and organizing skills and gender equality training and championing fair wages.
- Ever dreamt of turning 1% into a wave of change ๐? As the mastermind behind our 1% Giving Back projects you’ll oversee the women empowerment and education projects we already support, making sure they grow bigger and better, and you’ll think of new ways to ensure we’ll have positively touched the lives of 100.000 people by 2030.
- You reduce O My Bag’s environmental footprint by crunching numbers to pinpoint areas for improvement and turn these into action. You join forces with external partners to research and implement strategies for both minimizing carbon footprint and in- and offsetting initiatives.
- You work hand in hand with our production team to develop our Preferred Materials Matrix and source cutting-edge sustainable materials for product lines.
- At O My Bag, we wear our B Corp badge with pride โจ. As our Sustainability Manager, you’re the torchbearer of our mission to continually better our business practices and ensure we’re not just a part of the B Corp community, but an active, thriving member.
- You’ll be our resident sustainability guru, you’ll keep our team in the know about all our ground-breaking endeavors. You know how to inspire and engage people within the company and beyond.
- Spreading the word is key! You’ll team up with our marketing team to tell the world about our bold sustainability initiatives. As the face of O My Bag’s impact, you’ll be our ambassador both inside and out, weaving our story into every interaction, creating compelling reports, and igniting enthusiasm for our mission.
Some of the projects you’ll be working on this year:
- Extend our Living Wage initiative to beyond our direct reach: Boost the involvement of other clients in closing the Living Wage gap.
- We’re in the midst of our B Corp recertification. All the paperwork is done, and in Q3 it’s time for the interviews. The most exciting part…We’re not just aiming to maintain, we’ve got some bold plans for improvement ๐!
- Implement a traceability platform.
- Set up a frontrunner research collaboration on the durability of our products looking at avoided emissions of shopping second hand extending the use phase of our bags and translating this into tangible and engaging information for our customers.
- As the cherry on top of the cake: Winning a sustainability award ๐!
We're looking for someone who:
- Has a strong understanding of sustainability principles and best practices within the fashion industry.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful sustainability strategies.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Has 5+ years of relevant work experience in sustainability and a bachelor or master degree.
- Masters the art of communication in both Dutch and English and loves to write.
- The ability to translate complex data into clear, engaging content.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment and excel in both independent and collaborative work.
- Shares a passion for O My Bag's mission, values and desire to make a real difference.
