Description

This is a fully remote position. We will accept applications from any US state but preference will be given to candidates in the Portland, Oregon area to allow for occasional in-person meetings and collaboration in our headquarters office.

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Accountant with 5 or more years of experience who will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around managing accounts payable processes, overseeing payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and payment of sales and use taxes, reconciling the general ledger, and processing expense reports.

What you’ll be responsible for:

Accounts Payable Management
Oversee the accounts payable process, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and reconciliation of accounts.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of all vendor invoices and payments.
Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to resolve any payment or invoicing issues promptly.
Implement and maintain efficient AP procedures and controls to streamline processes and minimize errors.

Payroll Administration
Manage the end-to-end payroll process, including data entry, payroll processing, and distribution of paychecks or direct deposits.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax requirements.
Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
Coordinate with HR to ensure accurate employee data and adherence to company policies regarding compensation and benefits.

Sales & Use Tax Compliance
Prepare and file accurate sales and use tax returns in compliance with state and local regulations.
Conduct regular reviews of sales transactions to ensure proper tax treatment and minimize exposure to potential liabilities.
Stay up-to-date with changes in sales tax laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
Assist with sales tax audits and inquiries, providing necessary documentation and support as required.

General Ledger Reconciliation
Perform monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Identify and resolve discrepancies between financial records and bank statements, accounts payable, payroll, and other transactions.
Utilize NetSuite system for general ledger reconciliation and reporting purposes.
Collaborate with the finance team to identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency in general ledger reconciliation.

Expense Report Processing
Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Verify the accuracy and legitimacy of expense claims and supporting documentation.
Reconcile expense reports with company credit card statements and other financial records.
Communicate with employees to address any discrepancies or issues related to expense reporting.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
5+ years of public/private accounting experience.
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices, as well as relevant federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Experience with NetSuite and ADP highly preferred.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and integrity in handling sensitive financial information.
