Description

Fresh City is a city farm and online farmers market. We deliver produce, recipe kits and prepared meals to thousands of homes across the Toronto area. We are building an alternative food system that works for farmers, eaters and the planet. Our mission is to empower people to make conscious food choices.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Works with management to develop, implement and maintain HACCP;

  • Responsible for the on-boarding and maintenance of the complete HACCP system, including verification and validation;

  • Train new and existing staff on food handling and HACCP program;

  • Perform internal audit and inspections for all food safety program activities;

  • Perform a variety of inspections, including Pre-Op, GMP and Receiving;

  • Model and ensure staff understand HACCP and QC policies and codes of conduct and procedures which maintain proper control of production;

  • Identify, evaluate, control and prevent hazards at all stages of the food production process;

  • Ensure food safety and general safety policies are strictly followed;

  • Monitor processing workers for quality assurance and productivity;

  • Recommend work flow and production improvements.


It is important to note that as a member of the Fresh City team, you will also be required to pitch in with various operational tasks.


Qualifications:



  • Experience in a food processing facility or kitchen;

  • Post-secondary education in Food Technology / Science or a related field is preferred;

  • Knowledge of Food Safety principles;

  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, provincial and local food safety regulations;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;

  • Able to communicate effectively with employees from all levels within the facility;

  • Self starter, ambitious and dependable;

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Drive.


 Schedule:


 Full time, five days per week, weekend availability required.  8am start time.


 Compensation:



  • Hourly wage $20.00;

  • Food discount;

  • Health & Dental after one year.


 Start Date: ASAP
