BEC Assistant, Washington

Reports to Baking School Coordinator

The role of the assistant is to provide support to both the instructor and the students in the classroom as directed by the Baking School instructor. You will work with the instructor to create a fun, welcoming learning environment for students to experience the best of King Arthur’s culture. You’re an ambassador for the brand, a resource for students, and a support to the instructor, while executing a demanding logistical plan in support of successful learning.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION

  • Assist instructor in class set-up, including equipment, ingredient, and student needs. As needed, greet arriving students.
  • Work under the direction of the instructor during class to supply students with ingredients, equipment, and technical assistance where appropriate.
  • Maintain a clean classroom during class hours through clearing student workspace, washing dishes, and cleaning common work areas.
  • Assist instructor in baking and packaging student product.
  • Assist instructor in cleaning the classroom after class.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS & DESIRED SKILLS

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to work well on a team
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Creativity, flexibility and can work well under pressure
  • Strong culinary/baking background
  • Excellent customer service skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

This position has the potential for growth into instructing, so a culinary degree, or professional baking experience is preferred. Teaching experience is helpful.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to operate classroom equipment.
