Description

Would you love to get behind an organization that’s committed to empowering women and transforming society? At ROAR for Good, Entrepreneur Magazine’s Top 10 in Wearable Wellness, we’ve created Athena, a smart safety device to help reduce assaults and empower women. After exceeding our crowdfunding campaign, in which we’ve raised 668% of our goal, we’ve now sold thousands of devices in 50+ countries, and have thousands of users on our iOS and Android apps.

As we rapidly scale, we are bringing our mobile development team in-house and are now looking for an exceptional Android developer to work under our Senior Project Engineer. If you are passionate about leveraging technology for social good and always put the customer experience first, then this opportunity could be the perfect fit for you.

About the Android Developer role:

You’ll be rapidly making fixes and improvements to our current Android application. Since we’re a small team, it is imperative that you test and release production-level code.

If you have the knowledge, experience, or desire to learn and implement test-driven development (TDD) that would be fantastic.

We operate within an agile development cycle with two-week sprints, and use Asana to track our development items.

About you:

  • Have two Android apps available on Google Play Store. They can be school projects or real production apps
  • Have experience with web services, GPS / location services, and version control with Github
  • Have knowledge of good version control practices
  • Are deeply passionate about the ROAR for Good mission
  • Are a patient listener and excellent communicator
  • Are a proactive problem-solver

You get bonus points for:

  • Experience with Bluetooth low energy
  • Experience with Java 1.8, RX, Lambdas, JavaScript, React
  • Experience with SendBird, our in-app chat technology
  • Authorized to work in the US

Compensation

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Company contribution to health and dental insurance
  • Unlimited PTO
  • We have a very team-oriented office where we eat lunch together a few times during the week and celebrate milestones as a group
  • Opportunity for advancement
