Are you looking to expand your skills and experience in accounting with a growing company? Are you looking for a role where you can contribute in a meaningful way, and be part of something that is good for the world?

We’re Carnegie Fabrics, and we’re offering you that role.

We make commercial spaces beautiful and inviting, by providing businesses with eco-friendly and sustainable wall coverings, upholstery, panels, and other product lines.

If you’re ready to make a significant impact with a forward-thinking company that’s making the world a better place, we want to hear from you.

Accounts Payable Clerk

Your goal in this position is to support our senior accounting team with the AP tasks associated with our accounting department. Using a strong attention to detail, you’ll work with the highest degree of accuracy, exercising great judgement, confidentiality, and data management skills.

We want you to be a great teammate, eager to constantly improve your skills and knowledge, and earn the trust and confidence of the people around you.

You’ll be great at this job because you have:

  • Initiative – you’re always looking for the next task, and know when there’s something that needs doing. Whether it involves tying up loose ends on an account, or making sure that deliverables are communicated and reviewed with colleagues.

  • Flexibility – you’re willing and able to learn new things. You like new challenges, and seek out new ways to solve problems.

  • Exceptional communication abilities – you have strong written and verbal communication skills, and are comfortable interacting with vendors and co-workers alike. You make complex concepts easy to understand, and you always have a positive and friendly attitude.

Practically speaking, you will:

  • Manage our invoicing processes from start to finish, including verification, coding, matching, system entry, and payment setup.

  • Track and process all expense reports, as well as electronic transfers and payments.

  • Keep journal, ledgers, and other records up-to-date and accurate by posting and reconciling all transactions.

  • Ensure all payments are up-to-date, and research and resolve any discrepancies or issues.

  • Maintain vendor files, and respond to ongoing vendor correspondence and inquires.

  • Produce monthly reports, assist with month end closing, and provide supporting documentation for audits.

If this sounds like the role for you, we’d love you to have the following qualifications.

Qualifications

  • Experience in an accounts payable or general accounting role.

  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and procedures (GAAP, IFRS)

  • Experience with relevant accounting software (QuickBooks etc.)

  • Experience and proficiency in data entry and data management.

  • Strong computer skills, and proficiency with MS Office (especially Excel – formulas, LOOKUPS, pivot tables etc.)

  • Post-secondary education in accounting, business, or related field.

The Details

You’ll work Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 5:30 (with some overtime on evenings and weekends when reports are due) from our office in Rockville Centre. In addition to your salary, between $40,000 and $50,000/year, we offer a great benefits package with medical, dental, optical and 401K. After your first year, we also offer $500 annually for you to enroll in any class you like.

Ask our team what it’s like to work here and they’ll also tell you we have fun together: we celebrate everyone’s birthday, give employees money to donate to charities of their choosing, as well as an opportunity to do work they can be truly proud of.

At Carnegie Fabrics, we’re serious about providing a great place to work, being responsible about our environmental impact and providing innovative and artistic products – that’s why we became a B Corporation. We’re serious about our mission, and we want you to be to.
