Job Summary

As an Operations Manager you will have a unique impact on Techstars' Startup Programs worldwide alongside the event organizers, community leaders and attendees who participate in them. You will focus on delivering improved processes to impact the Brazil community, event organizers, the Techstars Brazil internal team, local partners and more. You’ll drive forward the creation of knowledge bases to help us more easily scale.

You’ll oversee the management of our Brazil office; managing payroll, reimbursements, office management and contractor management. You will be responsible for managing finance processes for the Brazil region and for event level budgeting and community reimbursements. Previous experience in finance and advanced google sheets skills are a plus.

Strong interpersonal skills are critical to this position, as are clear communication, strong writing skills and meticulous attention to detail. This job has a strong quality control aspect to it. If you love finding ways to make things simpler and more organized, you will excel in this position. Logistics experience is a plus, as is familiarity with the early stage venture backed company ecosystem or community building. We are growing fast and looking for an Operations Manager to grow with Techstars Startup Programs as a global organization. This position is full time and is based in Sao Paulo.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Manage payroll, benefits and reimbursements locally

  • Coordinate on-boarding for any new team members

  • Finance Support and Management

  • Liaise with our accountants to ensure up to date finances are delivered

  • Create a budget for the local office and revenue forecasting based on anticipated events

  • Manage event level reimbursements for community leaders

  • Manage account reconciliations

  • Support event level budgeting with communities to ensure we deliver financially successful events

  • Documenting best practices for the local ecosystem

  • Maintain and improve standardized curriculum materials for the Brazil community

  • Develop facilitator and community leader operational improvements

  • Support implementation of all new operational improvements


  • 3-5 years in fast-paced operational or finance focused position

  • Strong writing skills and a love for writing quality instructional content

  • Comfortable working with finance processes and building budgets

  • Proven attention to detail through prior work or life experience

  • Highly organised. Work reliably through systemised tasks without losing focus or drive.

  • Comfortable as a self-starter with strong problem solving skills

  • Experience working with startups or startup accelerators

  • Fits the Techstars culture (people-oriented, adaptable, supportive, creative)

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university

  • Fluent in English and Portuguese
