Description

Position Purpose

Support the Inclusive Economy Challenge to drive meaningful progress and behavior change on inclusion, equity, and diversity in the B movement

Goals:

Effectively deliver on IE Challenge KPIs, specifically delivering on goals set out in Prudential and Kellogg grants.

Pilot a proof of concept to drive behavior change through Impact Challenges and Impact Improvement programming.

Context:

Over the last year, B Lab has piloted the Inclusive Economy Challenge, a call to action to B Corps to address key metrics related to equity, diversity, and inclusion in their workplaces, supply chains, board rooms and the world at large. In order to support this ongoing work, both the Kellogg and Prudential Foundations have offered grants to drive meaningful behavior change on certain metrics focused on improving the lives of vulnerable worker populations. Deliverables for these grants include (but are not limited to):

Programming for the Inclusive Economy Challenge

Launch years 2/3 of the Inclusive Economy Challenge, including:

Engagement of 200 U.S. companies in the broader Inclusive Economy Challenge, with targeted programing for those with greatest potential for impact (around DEI, financial wellness, and impact hiring).

Challenging those 200 U.S. companies to collectivelyset at least 500 targets, demonstrating a meaningful commitment to making change. Of those, at least 150 should represent targets listed as ‘direct’ impact. (hiring practices, gender pay equity, wages, worker ownership, caregiver leave, healthcare, scheduling flexibility, and financial services.)

Upon completing Year 2 of the Challenge, we anticipate:

A total of 400 targets met by U.S. companies, with an average of 2.5 per participating company.

Of those - at least 60 will reflect practices that have a direct impact on workers in year 2; 100 will be achieved by year 3.

10 to 15 case studies that offer stories behind these numbers and show how companies undertook new practices, as well as how they got there.

Additionally, given the leadership and initiative historically taken by the B Corp community, we will track outcomes not captured by these targets but that happen as a result of our programming. This could include: collaboration around policy, awareness raising in a local community, exchanging of best practices, or formalization of partnerships.

Improving Job Quality/D and I Standards:

Improve Inclusive Economy Challenge Metrics Set to amend or add topics like hiring practices, training, financial wellness strategies, and inclusion in marketing and products. (Done / ongoing for v6)

Developing Real-world Examples to Show Practices in Action

Develop 50 examples of practices in action to be included in the BIA and used as a broader comms resource over time. Develop a system to better capture innovative practices in an ongoing way.
