Kaiser Permanente Northwest (KPNW)— made up of over 11,000 employees, more than 1,300 physicians and 150 dentists — provides and arranges medical care exclusively for health plan members. In the Portland-Vancouver area, Kaiser Permanente operates 34 medical offices and 2 hospitals. Today, the Northwest Region serves more than 576,000 medical and 244,000 dental members whose care is largely provided by Northwest Permanente, P.C., (NWP) and Permanente Dental Associates (PDA).

The Communications Department at NWP is welcoming applications for a Project Coordinator position located at our administrative building in Portland, Oregon. The Project Coordinator is a key member of NWP’s marketing and communications team. The coordinator will support a number of projects for the communications/marketing team and will ensure results fulfill client objectives and are completed in a timely manner. The coordinator will be actively involved in NWP initiatives, including project management of the implementation of a new brands, the development and launch of a new app for a 1,700+-member medical group, the communications team’s multimedia endeavors (video and podcasts) and other internal and external events. The coordinator will support NWP’s executive team and other members of the communications team, and will support other key initiatives and projects as needed.

  • Support marketing/communications team and executive team. Key responsibilities include:  

    • Project management of multiple projects, including the development/launch of a new communications app, yearly Top Doctors voting and vetting process, implementation of a new brand, internal and external events (including yearly Business Meeting), multimedia projects and video pipeline (includes scripting and scheduling). Manage day-to-day logistics to ensure projects move forward promptly.

    • Manage all NWP brand assets (photo boards, posters, banners) including physical/digital storage

    • Additional support for content management and presentations as needed

  • Intranet maintenance and web design/structure/consulting for internal clients (HR, etc.)

  • Actively supports communications team with writing for internal and external purposes and other duties as assigned.

  • Additional support for content management and presentations as needed.


  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, health care or related field or 4 years of experience in a directly related field.

  • One (1) year of experience in applicable project-related work

  • Ability to multitask (manage multiple projects at once) in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work professionally and confidently with senior leaders and stakeholders

  • Experience working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience developing presentations

  • Writing/editing skills


  • Experience working in health care and/or physicians

  • Two to Three (2-3) years of experience in applicable project-related work

  • Familiarity with WordPress, Powerpoint and Adobe, and eagerness to learn new technology

  • Experience with creative projects
