Fresh City is a city farm and local and organic grocer. We deliver and retail produce, recipe kits and prepared meals to thousands of homes across the GTA, including the downtown core. We are building an alternative food system that works for farmers, eaters and the planet. Our mission is to empower people to make conscious food choices.


About the Position


Fresh City is looking for a Head Chef to lead our over a dozen (awesome) kitchen team. You are a talented team player ready to take our prepared food program to the next level.

  • You love food -- you are passionate about turning our local and organic ingredients into food that is crave-worthy and delicious. 


Responsibilities and duties include:



  • Ensuring ingredient and labour cost goals are met. 

  • Hiring, reviewing and scheduling staff. 

  • Working with the recipe development team to take recipes from concept to finished product.

  • Ensuring compliance with our food safety and HACCP program.

  • Ensuring our daily production requirements are met while adhering to our quality standards.

  • Maintaining a positive and productive work environment.


Qualifications



  • Post-secondary education in culinary arts management, food preparation or similar

  • At least 5 years prior scratch-cooking experience.

  • Food Handlers Certification

  • At least 2 years kitchen leadership experience
