Description

Join a dynamic, mission-focused community solar start-up and help us build stronger communities by bringing solar to everyone! We’re looking for an energetic, organized senior specialist with amazing people skills, highly organized, with strong Maryland connections, and a passion for social justice. It’s a chance to be part of a new venture poised for rapid growth.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Form strategic, mutually-beneficial partnerships with environmental and community groups throughout Maryland, with a particular focus on Baltimore and groups that work in the Low-Moderate Income (LMI) community.

    • Arrange for Neighborhood Sun participation in and visibility at these groups' events, including signing up of leads and/or subscribers to our solar projects.

    • Arrange for lead-generation agreements with these organizations.

    • Formulate tactical plan for lead acquisition that meets or exceeds our cost targets.

    • Work with senior management on planning company strategies to reach LMI customers.

    • Identify and network with key influencers in the community solar space.

    • Represent Neighborhood Sun at networking and other public events, including delivering presentations on community solar.

MUST HAVE SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent people skills.

  • Superior written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong connections in Maryland in the NGO or faith communities that serve LMI customers.

  • Comfortable with uncertainty and changing plans.

  • Extremely organized.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.

  • At least 4-5 years of previous sales, marketing or comparable outreach work.

  • Connections with real estate developers that own buildings for LMI residents a huge plus.

YOU ARE:

  • Willing to fail (and learn).

  • Not process oriented, a “doer” more than a “talker” or a “meetings” person.

  • A person who doesn’t always need credit.

  • A person who doesn’t mind, and perhaps even embraces uncertainty, sees the fun and the value of wearing many different hats.

  • Either introverted or extroverted, it doesn’t matter!

  • Honest, ethical and loyal.

  • Quirky or “unique” people are encouraged to apply. 😊

  • Knowledgeable about the Maryland market.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

  • Possible significant travel within the region needed.

  • Likely work at nights and on weekends at times.

  • Compensation commensurate with skills and experience.

Neighborhood Sun is committed to being inclusive. Everyone with the skills, experience and attitude right for this position is strongly encouraged to apply.

About Neighborhood Sun

We’re your friendly clean energy social enterprise with a mission to empower neighborhoods to choose local community solar. Community, or shared solar, allows electricity consumers to purchase solar from a local project, with no need to install any equipment. We are founded by the former leader of Clean Currents, the area’s first exclusively green energy company, which brought together thousands of people, businesses and organizations to switch to wind and solar power. Our goal is to be the most trusted, transparent solar brand in the market. For us, solar is about creating strong communities.
