Description

We’re about to take 2018 by storm and we’re looking for a Bookkeeping & Office Coordinator to join our East Van team for a one year parental leave contract. You’ll be immersed in a feminist workplace with cross-functional teams to support the operational success of a fast-growing manufacturing and ecommerce company.

We are looking for a values-driven changemaker who is a self-starter, a quick learner, has an aptitude for numbers and leaves nothing but a trail of organization in their wake. You’ll thrive in this role if you’re curious, love to solve problems, and create efficiencies. You want to be part of a close-knit, community-minded, growing business, where every person is essential, has a voice, and sees the impact of their work.

In short, this is more than a job; it’s a path to rich career and personal growth, and exposure to a strong community of entrepreneurs who are using business as a force for good.

Responsibilities

Bookkeeping:

  • Record financial transactions using Accounting Software or Excel. Assist in the preparation of financial information, including the balance sheet, P&L statement, and other reports.

  • Reconcile transactions & financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information and comparing and correcting data (ie: credit card, petty cash, and bank reconciliations, etc).

  • Substantiate financial transactions by verifying supporting documents, preparing payments and requesting disbursements.

  • Regularly monitor Accounts Receivable and follow up with customers to ensure timely receipts from accounts, including invoicing and account statements.

  • Compile payroll data for processing bi-monthly payroll online.

Human Resources:

  • Assist in the creation, maintenance, and implementation of human resources projects such as the company wide Standard Operating Practices (SOP), Employee Handbook, office events, systems upgrades, and other internal communications.

  • Assist in the process of recruitment, hiring, and onboarding for new staff members and/or volunteers as needed.

Office:

  • Coordinating or facilitating meetings and special office events.

  • Work closely with each company department — especially Marketing, Operations, and Customer Service — to provide general assistance and resources on an as-needed basis.

  • Act as an ambassador to Lunapads by maintaining a professional and values-driven approach to internal and external communications.

About You

You’re a whiz with Microsoft Excel and all things Google (Calendar, Gmail, Sheets). You don’t need to be a CPA, but you do need to be a people AND numbers person - you’ll be called on to facilitate meetings and special events. You’re especially interested in working in a busy, diverse, and data-driven startup or small business environment and are happy to step in and assist when and where needed.

Desired Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting role.

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in administrative assistance, human resources, project management, or relevant role.

  • Experience with accounting software, especially cloud-based systems such as Xero.

  • Working proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Very detail oriented with excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills; especially internally with management and staff members.

  • Experience in HR policy development and coordination, facilitation experience is an asset.

Consider this:

Have you ever wondered if you really have to check your values at the door when you go to work? Ever dreamed of working for a compassionate, energetic and creative company?

Have you ever wondered if you can use your admin and bookkeeping chops to not only improve the bottom line, but also to live out your social and environmental values?

We’re Lunapads, and we’ve asked ourselves these questions.

Lunapads is owned and operated by women. As a company, we’re the OGs of sustainable, unapologetically feminist personal care products. Our purpose is to inspire healthy and sustainable choices that support positive, shame-free experiences of our bodies.

We support that belief by providing a new perspective on personal care. We manufacture and sell washable, sustainable menstrual products: from our own branded line of Lunapads washable pads and period underwear to the DivaCup.

Our values of authenticity, sustainability and transparency are reflected in our proud standing as a founding and award-winning Canadian B Corporation, and we’re constantly pushing ourselves to higher standards of social and environmental commitment.

Working Here

This is a 20 to 40 hour per week contract position, with a full time salary range between $36,000- $42,000/year, commensurate with experience. Applicants looking for a highly flexible work schedule are encouraged to apply. Total compensation also includes vacation, personal and volunteer days, a health spending account, and more cloth pads and period underwear than you could shake a stick at.

We want you to be yourself when you come to work: that’s why we foster an environment where everyone takes pride in themselves and in their workplace. We encourage authenticity, and want you to bring your strengths, your flaws, and your whole self to work every day.

That’s the spirit that inspires our East Vancouver office space, which is open, energetic, and collective. We’re in and of this community; our office and warehouse are in one building, and our pads are made right down the street, where you can go visit ‘em when you need cheering up.

How to Apply

Lunapads is committed to building a skilled and diverse team of professional employees; as such we are an equal opportunity employer. Women, trans & queer folks, indigenous people, people of colour, and people with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.

Applications without a cover letter will not be considered, and this posting will remain open until our dream candidate is found. We will review applications as they are received and look forward to hearing from you.
