Maintenance Mechanic II


Reports To:     Maintenance Mechanic Lead


Department:    Operations


Schedule:        This position may rotate shifts every 6 months


1st shift            Monday – Friday, 7am – 3:30pm


2nd shift           Monday – Friday, 3:15pm – 11:30pm


3rd shift           Monday – Friday, 11:15pm – 7:30am


 


Summary


Under moderate supervision performs Troubleshooting, Repairs, Preventative Maintenance, and Installations on production related equipment in a safe and timely manner.  A close working relationship with production staff is also expected.  This position will lead by example in following safety, and cGMP guidelines.


 


Duties



  1. Maintains and adjusts any and all production related equipment and tools

  2. Ability to complete preventative maintenance activities independently

  3. Ensures individual mechanic related logs are completed from that shift

  4. Ensures inventory is billed accurate and current per shifts activities

  5. Maintains effective, and immediate communication with production staff

  6. Maintains a safe, clean, organized and cGMP compliant work space on the production floor and inside the maintenance shop

  7. Works safely and assists in assuring machine and operator safety

  8. Assists in layout and installation of all new plant equipment

  9. Assists with engineering related test runs as necessary

  10. Assists in ALL mechanics training programs

  11. Follows all Food Safety guidelines, such as GMP, HACCP, sanitation & safety

  12. Follows instructions from Lead Mechanic as well as Production Shift Supervisors

  13. Basic ability to communicate with equipment manufactures as necessary


 


 




Minimum Qualifications



  • Education or experience equivalent to high school diploma

  • Two - four years’ experience working in plant packaging machinery maintenance

  • Basic knowledge of shop related equipment (Mill, Lathe, Surface Grinder, etc.)

  • Basic knowledge of electronics, PLCs. Pneumatics

  • Basic ability to understand parts’ schematics

  • Basic ability to research and apply technical information

  • Motivated to attend training classes as they relate to the maintenance department.

  • Above average problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups, self-motivated and self-directed

  • Willingness to vary work hours to meet production needs and shift rotations.

  • Good interdepartmental communication and customer service skills

  • Good communication with the Maintenance Lead

  • Knowledge of cGMPs and safety procedures.

  • Takes pride of his/her work

  • Conduct yourself as professional

  • Make good decisions 


 


Physical Requirements


-        Able to lift up to 50 lbs


-        Able to stand, sit, bend, kneel for long periods of time


-        Able to crawl and reach over head


-        Able to lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 lbs constantly


-        Has both manual and physical dexterity
