Inside Sales Representative, New York

We are looking for a talented and competitive Inside Sales Representative that thrives in an innovative sales cycle and finds the intersection of startups and corporations fascinating. This person must have the discipline to manage themselves in a work from home situation and is equally flexible to switch to an office if needed. Lastly, be ready to jump on a plane to ensure a deal close!

An Inside Sales Rep plays a fundamental role in achieving our ambitious customer acquisition and revenue growth objectives. You must be comfortable making dozens of calls/emails per day to qualify incoming web-leads, working on RFPs and pivoting at a moment’s notice based on the needs of the team. You will be working with several Sales Executives and Directors in the field to help them with account research, qualifying leads and managing the handoff of account ownership after the close of a deal. This includes working with the Account delivery team to set up kickoff calls and gather necessary materials from new clients to ensure a delighted experience for the customers. The role also includes working with our Sales Operations team to ensure all systems are in place and running smoothly for the team.



  • Source new sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calls (if needed) and emails

  • Understand customer needs and requirements

  • Route qualified opportunities through the right protocols to the appropriate Sales Executives for further development and closure

  • Assist Sales Executives in closing sales and achieving quarterly quotas

  • Research accounts, identify key players and generate interest

  • Help build sales decks on the fly for Sales Executives and Directors

  • Follow up on RFPs, which includes driving internal processes to meet deadlines

  • Create templates and call scripts for future Inside Sales Representatives

  • Ensure and potentially clean up dates and details in SalesForce to ensure accurate reporting

  • Prepare top-of-funnel reports and present at  weekly forecast meetings


  • Proven inside sales experience

  • Strong phone presence and experience dialing dozens of calls per day

  • Proficient with corporate productivity and web presentation tools

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Strong listening and presentation skills

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively

  • Desire to have a career in sales, driven to become a quota-carrying Sales Executive within a year

  • Proficient in Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc, experience with Salesforce, Pipedrive or other sales CRM tools

  • Strong interest in technology, startups and entrepreneurship

  • Experience with venture capital a plus (either directly or indirectly)

  • Fits the Techstars’ culture (people-oriented, adaptable, supportive, authentic and creative)

  • Bachelor's degree (or commensurate experience) in Business, preferably marketing and sales, strongly preferred

  • Understands what it means to work for a small, fast-paced/high-growth company

  • Thrives (demonstrated) working in a distributed/independent environment

  • The idea of working cross-functionally across Techstars and with other companies to come up with innovative solutions and ideas excites you

  • You have exceptional professional presentation and speaking skills

  • You are incredibly self-driven and organized

  • You enjoy traveling locally, nationally, and internationally, sometimes dropping everything and jumping on a plane to make a deal happen (25% travel is expected to ensure networking within Techstars and possibly clients)
