Job Summary:     


      

Techstars operates 30+ Accelerator programs around the globe and we’re looking for a General Manager (GM) who can provide strategic guidance and leadership to our diverse and independent leaders. The GM is the leader for a group of Techstars Accelerator programs and has a deep understanding of technology, startups, entrepreneurship and  venture capital. This person provides a holistic strategy for the region, including partnering with Techstars’ Startup Community programs, which operates in 150+ countries, and Techstars Ventures. The role will include the recruitment, training and management of Managing Directors (MD) and Program Management Director (PD); as well as working with other operational units within Techstars to ensure the exceptional delivery of our programs. The GM will support the MDs in the sourcing, selecting and funding of companies for each program in their region, as well as operational support for the PD and program operations staff.





Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for establishing the regional strategy, including growth within existing program territories and identifying new territories within your region.

  • Alignment with the Techstars vision, direction and support of overall organization objectives.

  • Partner with program teams to create holistic delivery plan and then own overall responsibility for the successful execution of programs.

  • Manage relationships and engage directly with senior leadership of Techstars

  • Engage with founders, mentors, sponsors, investors and corporate partners to ensure the successful execution of programs

  • Employee management, including hiring, firing, career development and the delivery of comprehensive training and coaching sessions to maximize the productivity of program teams

  • Manage and coordinate with other GMs regular MD and PM/Director Summits, including identifying common themes, sharing best practices and highlighting areas of innovation and improvement across the global Techstars’ network.

  • Working with other GMs and MDs on company selection, as well as the handoff and transfer process of companies from and to other programs.

  • Participation in the annual planning processes for budgeting and growth within the defined territory and Techstars globally.

  • Quarterly business and performance metrics reviews

  • Develop scalable systems and processes to regularly provide bi-directional updates to the Techstars’  investment portfolio across the region.

  • Partnering with internal Techstars’ teams to create and drive the pipeline and recruitment of new companies across the entire Techstars network

  • Represent Techstars in local community, both actively and passively

  • Service the Techstars’ network overall on and off-season: mentor new GMs, assist in other programs, work on strategic initiatives and develop meaningful and beneficial relationships across the Techstars ecosystem






Qualifications:



  • 10+ years of experience in fast-paced environments within technology, startups, entrepreneurship and  venture capital.

  • Strong emotional intelligence, experience with recruiting, hiring and managing teams of remote staff

  • Comfortable with a minimal amount of direction but high expectations

  • Comfortable commanding a room; public speaking and community development is part of the job

  • Fits the Techstars’ culture (#givefirst, Entrepreneurial Inclination, High Quality and Network Focused)

  • Knowledge of DiSC, StrengthsFinder or similar tools is highly desirable

  • History of delivering high quality customer satisfaction through CSAT and Net Promoter systems.

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university; MBA preferred

  • Ability to travel 50% within territory, as well as other meetings and events around the globe
