This person will be focused on designing and developing new products to introduce into Bob Barker’s core market of correction and detention facilities. This individual will work closely with the product management team in identifying and evaluating customer pain points. This individual will manage all aspects of designing product solutions, prototyping and testing the products as well as working with manufacturing to release them into production. This role is a key contributor to the strategic company growth and increasing our portfolio of unique product solutions.

The successful candidate in this position will be the point person in defining and developing new product solutions for the company’s core customer base. This individual will be responsible for laying out potential design solutions while analyzing their feasibility and market potential. You will work closely with the team of product managers as well as the Director of Product to review the design options. Experience in designing and testing products for markets like medical, personal care, apparel, footwear, transportation or mattresses is a plus. The key person for this position must work well with a team, must be able to take constructive input from others and must be good at conveying their ideas to multiple levels of technical aptitude. In addition to working with our teams on the business side this individual will have a high level of interaction with manufacturing, procurement and outside vendors to ensure successful product launches and sustainable designs.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Experience in product design and development.
• 2-5 years relevant experience in product development.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks required.
• Experience prototyping and testing designs required.
• Design and manufacturing experience with plastics, metal fabrication, textiles or footwear is preferred.
• Experience with intellectual property is a plus.
• Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
• Ability to work with team.
• Creative ability required.
• Product data management experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
• Work experience and technical knowledge of institutional clothing, shoes, underwear, bedding, furnishings, and/or personal care items is preferred.
