Manager, Pipeline & Scouting - Boulder 

Techstars operates 35+ Accelerator programs around the globe and we’re looking for a Manager, Pipeline & Scouting who can lead our sourcing and recruiting efforts for unique and interesting early-stage technology companies. The manager’s focus is pipeline development — using relationship-, data-, and marketing-driven skills and tools — to create and nurture a funnel of the best early-stage technology companies. The companies will span the globe and will cover all types of technology products and services.

The manager will identify and source companies through a data-driven approach, including publications, pitch competitions and conference attendees. The manager is also responsible for developing and nurturing relationships, and leveraging existing relationship already in place,  across the entire startup ecosystem with organizations who foster and support startups, such as the Techstars network, universities, conferences, coworking facilities, and local and international economic development organizations. Working in partnership with our 35+ Managing Directors (MDs), the manager will also  identify specific vertical markets, as well as identify companies in specific geographic markets and support our quarterly global roadshow. The output of these efforts will be qualified companies based on specific program needs and shared with individual MDs and programs.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Own overall responsibility for successful pipeline creation and company nurturing

  • Develop state-of-the-art company recruiting and sourcing tools and techniques

  • Engage with founders and investors to develop deep relationships

  • Handle incoming web, email, and phone requests from potential companies

  • Prospect early-stage companies to secure appointments

  • Immediately contact, qualify and nurture leads generated through your research activity

  • Evaluate, integrate and improve the  current record of all activities and company information

  • Meet or exceed monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Attention to detail and strong follow-up skills

  • Partner with Managing Directors to develop program needs within specific geographies and verticals

  • Work under general supervision, but with a high degree of entrepreneurial spirit, initiative and creativity

  • Coordinate with MDs for company introductions, office hours, and Ask Me Anything (AMA) meetings within specific regions and cities

  • Represent Techstars in the local and global community, both actively and passively

  • Understand both the target markets, including industry, company, project, company contacts, as well as which market strategies can be used to attract clients

  • Deep understanding of our products, our competition in the industry and positioning

  • Strong interest in the discourse around technology, startups, entrepreneurship, and venture capital

  • Willingness to learn and comfort tackling new problems is a must



  • 5+ years of experience in fast-paced environments with a focus on pipeline development in a sales/marketing technology organization

  • Deep knowledge of the pipeline qualification and scoring process, including the ability to implement new systems as needed

  • Experience with the early-stage venture-backed company ecosystem preferred

  • Technical background in software and hardware

  • Excellent process skills and proven attention to detail through prior work or life experience

  • Comfortable with a variety of responsibilities – we're lean so we all have to roll up our sleeves!

  • Comfortable with a minimal amount of direction, but high expectations

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
