Role Summary: 

This role shall manage one or more commodities autonomously to maximize the company's commercial position.


General Responsibilities:

Lead and develop given commodities to obtain a competitive position for best cost, quality, and lead time
Take a leadership role in selecting and developing suppliers within their commodities to achieve corporate and department goals
Explore Technologies  within assigned commodities to develop and implement effective strategies
Lead negotiations with suppliers
Participate in development and management of departmental policies and goals
Work with the Cascade Enterprise System team to implement and support continuous improvement changes
Build solid working relationships with team members at all levels of the company
Maintain purchasing format for tracking cost savings and increases
Analyze and compare supplier quotations selecting the best fit Cascade Engineering
Participate in VE/VA, RIE and APQP teams as needed
Execute purchase orders
Support federal, state and local legal and regulatory requirements
Possible travel up to 30% of time

Minimum Education, Experience and Core Competency Requirements: 

Bachelor’s Degree with five to ten years of related experience. Additional education may be substituted for experience and vice versa.
Comprehensive understanding of purchasing concepts
Demonstrated expertise in commodity strategy
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and practices
Supervisory practice or education
Ability to proactively identify potential opportunities and issues
General understanding of accounting
Ability to work autonomously
Strong oral and written communication skills
Capable of managing stressful situations
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and to develop and deliver shared objectives
Demonstrated computer skills including QAD
Ability to travel domestic and international (up to 30%)

Preferred Education, Experience and Core Competency Requirements : 

MBA Degree with related experience
Certification in APICS, ISM or other recognized purchasing or supply chain management organization
Knowledge and experience in e-Commerce
Familiarity with QAD and MQ1
Proven successful supplier development experience
Experience working in a lean environment
Strong leadership skills; able to lead commodity management activities
Experience implementing world-class manufacturing and materials management techniques
Understanding of accounting functions
Experience with fiber or fabric commodities
Experience working with automotive suppliers
