Role Summary:

The program manager is the leader in coordinating, facilitating, motivating, and directing efforts of cross-functional program teams from design concept through start of production.  Dialogue and communication will be internal to the organization as well as external with key customers to maintain a strong customer relationship with a focus on executing a successful launch.  The successful candidate will manage the customer towards a flawless launch through budgeting, planning and project execution. Key metrics for the program manager include timing, gross margin, project budget, and scrap.


General Responsibilities:

Ensures the launch team adheres to all safety procedures and guidelines.
Utilizes CES resources and tools to meet flow cell certification requirements at time of launch.
Gate keeper for understanding and managing expectations of the customers.
Owns program and is the clear leader for mobilizing both internal and external resources
Initiates and maintains project folders and APLS workbooks.
Leads and coordinates launch team meetings and updates the open issues matrix.
Tracks and controls all project costs
Leads activities to meet quality goals for successful start of production as defined by the customer statement of work.
Leads program reviews that provide appropriate status, and updates for cost, timing, and risk management.
Develops and implements corrective action plans when deviations from budgets and/or schedules are evident.
Coordinates and facilitates phase gate process from Phase 0 through Phase 5.
Assures a timely closeout of completed programs to ensure that all obligations are satisfied and program documentation is properly recorded.
Oversee engineering activity and provide engineering input.
Support programs for Fiat Chrysler out of their corporate headquarters in Auburn Hills 1-2 days a week.


Minimum Education, Experience and Core Competency Requirements:

Bachelors of Science in Business, Manufacturing, Engineering or related field
10+ years of experience in program management or product development function.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
Ability to lead a team and communicate effectively (written and verbal).
Detail oriented individual with good organizational skills.
5 years of experience in automotive industry


Preferred Education, Experience and Core Competency Requirements:

PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
MBA or Master's Degree in Engineering related field.
5-10 years of experience in product development function.
Ability to function independently in customer setting.
Heavy Duty Truck, Office Furniture, Carts, or Power Sport industry experience.
Knowledge of Fiat Chrysler Automotive Systems (Change Notice, Supplier Pilot Portal)
