Simple Energy works with electric and gas utilities to help motivate and enable customers to save energy via targeted motivational messaging and instant-rebate eCommerce. Simple Energy has raised over $10mm from leading Silicon Valley and Boulder VCs and angel investors; the company currently has over 65 employees.

About the role:

The Director of Retail Solutions is responsible for growing and managing Simple Energy’s network of retailers in our industry leading in-store, online and contractor driven instant rebating program called Rebates-as-a-Service (RaaS). To grow the network successfully, you will convey to our customers a keen understanding of Simple Energy’s mission and outline the value of the RasS program from design to strategy to technology. You will also be responsible for all the behind the scenes in managing and completing all non-technical RaaS related tasks to both launch new retailers and provide ongoing support to existing retailers.

To be successful you will be able to:

  • Present and articulate the value of a software solution that unlocks utility instant rebates at the point of sale to retail prospects.
  • Build initial and lasting relationships with current and prospective retail partners who would benefit from partnering with our RaaS Program.
  • Understand our participating retailers business strategy, product group/service offerings, organization, processes, and decision-making structures.
  • Lead, create and execute the strategy to reach our participating and prospective retailer partners.
  • Anticipate the retailers needs, by researching and staying up to date on the latest trends and developments in the industry.
  • Proactively communicate your business funnel, through accurate and timely reporting of all project opportunities to the executive team.
  • Close deals by negotiating contracts and coordinating requirements.
  • Work cross functionally with squads to help ensure our RaaS partner has what they need. This is including, but not limited to marketing material to help with the product launch, contract and pricing modifications.
  • Understand of the retailers needs and work with engineering and product to make sure they are able to deliver a quality product in a timely manner.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on RaaS and help internal Sales and Delivery team sell and upsell RaaS to utility clients on an as-needed basis
  • Be the external facing representative of RaaS with retailers and at conferences.

Requirements:

  • 10 years experience working with and selling to retailers (ex. Home Depot, Lowes, Best Buy, etc.) with strong current retailer relationships.
  • Understanding of Electric and Gas utility energy efficiency programs strongly desired.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • A growth-oriented mindset with the ability to work well cross. organizationally, establishing strong relationships, and managing stakeholders.
  • Ability to drive projects and teams, cross organizationally, realizing high quality, well communicated, predictable outcomes.
  • Highly innovative, creative, and collaborative.
