Elephants Delicatessen is a well-known local Catering and Delicatessen brand. Our scratch production baking facility in Southeast Portland needs another leader. We are seeking an experienced Baker (scratch-made bread/ pastry/ dessert experience is a huge plus!) with the skills to run a tight ship while still offering a positive and friendly work environment.
You will be helping the GM oversee 3 departments, Bread, Pastry, and Desserts (about 20 people total). You should be able to work alongside your team, filling in as needed in any aspect of production.
We have some excellent bakers in place, so we need a captain that can respect their exceptional contributions and foster career development and team-bonding.
The ideal candidate will have:
- High emotional intelligence- mature, friendly, and empathetic.
- At least 1 year experience in baking in a high-volume production setting
- At least 2 years of leadership experience (for a team of about 20 people or more is preferred)
- The ability to lift 50 lbs., stand for at least 8 hours, bend, stoop, twist, etc. in a physically demanding job (with reasonable accommodation)
- Current OR Food Handler's Card
Bonus Points:
- An excellent knowledge of rotating ovens, laminators, and other large production bakery equipment
- A culinary degree
- Experience leading a team of at least 10 - 20 people
