Description
Position Summary:
RSF Social Finance seeks to hire a full-time Director of Client Development who will apply her/his professional experience and expertise to advance RSF’s vision, mission, and values. The Director of Client Development will oversee fundraising strategy and implementation for campaigns to raise both philanthropic and investment capital. This position will provide leadership to the Client Engagement team by spearheading projects, determining priorities, and ensuring accountability and the achievement of fundraising goals. This person will work collaboratively with other RSF teams such as Marketing, Philanthropic Services and Social Enterprise Lending, and will steward direct, transparent, and personal relationships with donors, investors, and social entrepreneurs.

Responsibilities:
Fundraising & Donor Stewardship
Achieve individual annual fundraising goals and provide guidance to Client Engagement staff to help them meet annual fundraising goals.
Strengthen RSF’s client development strategies and outreach efforts, focusing on high-net-worth investors and donors, foundations, and wealth advisors.
Lead donor and investor cultivation efforts and generate new relationships through word-of-mouth, referrals, networking, and other relationship-based approaches.
Serve as a key member of the Client Engagement team and work closely with the Philanthropic Services team to identify, cultivate, and secure major gifts for RSF’s long-term capacity building campaign (called “Money to Transform”), annual campaign, Donor Advised Funds, and thematic philanthropic funds (called “Collaboratives”).
Work closely with the senior manager of Client Engagement and other RSF staff to cultivate investor relationships to secure new investments and increase the balances of current Social Investment Fund accounts.
Lead donor stewardship strategy, including in-person engagement and the generation of compelling written communications and impact reports. Collaborate with marketing department to develop and refine fundraising collateral/communications.
Leverage an established network of contacts and connections to expand RSF’s donor and investor prospect lists.
Manage and implement foundation outreach strategy, communications, and reporting.

Community Engagement & Team Leadership
Serve as a spokesperson and ambassador for RSF at conferences, gatherings, and on webinars. Attend events to expand network, raise awareness about RSF offerings, and build new relationships.
Work with other Client Engagement team members to implement and represent RSF at community-building events for clients and stakeholders.
Effectively communicate RSF’s vision, mission, values, and case for support for Money to Transform and Collaboratives.
Collaborate with RSF board members to generate and cultivate new donors and investors.
Develop and implement a planned giving program.
Ensure optimal use of Salesforce database.
Collaborate with and supervise the work of other team members, ensuring accountability of each person’s fundraising and client stewardship goals. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure outreach and solicitation goals are met.
Main a strong sense of teamwork, and a positive, efficient working environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
A minimum of 10 years experience in fundraising, sales, client engagement or business development, with at least 5 years in positions with significant decision-making, as well as financial and relationship development responsibilities.
BA/BS degree or equivalent required.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, prioritize, manage projects and work flow, and work well independently.
Strong drive and ability to achieve fundraising goals. Experience soliciting major gifts from individuals and organizations, and/or significant sales experience.
At least five years experience managing/supervising direct reports.
Excellent judgment and strong leadership skills.
Ability to multi-task and work efficiently with high degree of attention to detail and minimum supervision.
Experience working with diverse communities, clients and stakeholders.
Capacity to create fundraising campaigns and implement a planned giving program.
Excellent oral and written communications skills (including the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and financial offerings).
Exceptional interpersonal and listening skills to build relationships with staff, clients, prospects, strategic partners, and the public.
Strong presentation skills including the ability to create professional proposals for specific prospects and foundations.
Capacity and commitment to maintain confidentiality and manage highly sensitive relationships and information.
Strong knowledge of the key financial instruments and issues in social finance and philanthropic fields.
Depth of experience working with high net worth individual investors, donors and foundations.
Technical knowledge of fundraising strategies and tactics, as well as gift/legacy vehicles.
Ability to create, manage and analyze spreadsheets.
Ability to review and digest complex written materials.
Capacity to integrate innovative communication technologies into the development process.
Strong computer skills including, but not limited to: databases, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Ability and willingness to do administrative work, including scheduling meetings, recording information in Salesforce, following up with clients, and creating reports.
Demonstrable ability to develop effective strategies, with a track record of successful implementation.
Passionate drive to establish and achieve well-defined goals.
Excellent judgment, strong organizational and decision-making skills, and the ability to take initiative and manage time well.
Ability to establish and monitor priorities, remain flexible, and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and work well under pressure.

Must be able to work at a computer for long periods of time.
Must be able to travel, including driving and flying, to meet with clients and prospective clients.
Must be able to travel extensively, at least 25% of overall time.

Compensation & Benefits:
The initial salary for this position is expected to be in the $110K to $130K range, depending on experience and skills. Other benefits include:
