Job Description
In a hands on key role, directs the overall supply chain operations, including purchasing, supplier selection and interaction, inbound import logistics functions, 3PL warehouse management and outbound distribution of finished goods. Develops plans to improve productivity, quality, cost and efficiency of overall supply chain operations.

Specifically, works to optimize and improve:

  • Inbound logistics and purchase order tracking functions including processing commercial documents, scheduling of shipments, selection of forwarders, obtaining best rates, tracking of and final delivery and receipt of shipments.
  • Selection and management of 3PL warehousing and outbound carriers, negotiating best rates and service including accuracy of inventory and problem free delivery.
  • Order fulfillment function including allocation of orders and scheduling of shipments.
  • Demand planning, sales forecast, allocation of stock, inventory planning and ordering functions. Including the customs prints management process.
  • Overseas supplier QC inspections and troubleshooting issues as well as negotiations and sourcing.

Ensure that all departmental personnel are focused on continuous improvement of processes

Manages and heads quality control designed to ensure quality, reliability and to minimize costs.

  • Sets rigorous standards for Quality and ensures compliance to these standards.
  • Works with suppliers to improve and measure quality and processes.
  • Works with warehouses to ensure products meet quality standards upon arrival.
  • Responds to and investigates all quality complaints.
  • Performs QC tests or inspections on products as needed and arranges 3rd party lab testing as applicable.

Main point of contact with all suppliers for pricing, Quality Control and capacity.

  • Works with suppliers on pricing, capacity and lead times.
  • Maintains and builds supplier relationships. Defines supplier standards and develops suppliers to meet standards.
  • Tracks and scores supplier performance.

Works with Product Development and Marketing for product roll out and product availability

Experience

  • 10+ years’ experience in managing supply chain operations
  • BS in technical field preferred.
  • CPIM, CSCP, APICS certifications preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of demand management/forecasting tools, forecasting processes in sales, manufacturing and supply chain issues.
  • Knowledge of key inventory performance drivers and metrics, turns, margin contributions, etc.
  • Proven leadership, project management, problem solving and team development skills.
  • Experience leading and defining in a continuous improvement culture.
  • Very good contract negotiation skills
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills. Excel expert.
  • Experience with ERP, inventory management/manufacturing systems. Experience with NetSuite a major plus.
  • Proficient with software systems.
