Job Summary:

The Logistics Manager develops and accelerates implementation of Strategic, Operational and Financial plans for the Transportation organization in alignment with the overall company objectives by driving customer profitability by creating visibility and solutions to customer needs and lead opportunities to drive costs down. This role will source Transportation and Logistics across Yogi Product lines, domestically and internationally by using a blend of intuition, knowledge and fact-based analysis to develop and execute an international transportation strategy that enhances East West Tea’s overall ability to serve customers and optimize the customer order to delivery; reducing costs and improving services.

Key Areas of Responsibilities

Determine the appropriate mode and carrier (LTL, TL, Intermodal, small parcel) for inbound and outbound shipments to provide transportation services through a review of factors such as possession of regulatory authority, financial stability, performance history and reputation, and amount and type of equipment operated

Identify qualified carriers and from those, select the optimal number of carriers to provide service based on cost, local and regional capacities and customer service capabilities

Negotiate service agreements/contracts with carriers to provide service, price, equipment requirements, and customer service and pick-up and delivery schedules in order to assure cost effective services

Create carrier scorecards, required actions, metrics and other tools needed to monitor progress (reviewing delivery results against schedules and customer specifications, cost, billing accuracy and freight loss and damage) to establish goals and KPI results.

Interface with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to optimize transportation rates and services, including but not limited to: sales, customer service, warehouse and planning.

Maintain relationships with offsite carriers, warehouses and 3rd party logistic providers.

Maintain on time delivery to customers.

Examine transportation industry service and cost trends in order to develop strategic plans for improving transportation services efficiencies while mitigating cost escalation

Manage freight claims process and customer chargebacks to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution

Connect and collaborate with all functions across the customer including demand planning, customer service, finance, IT, sales, supply chain and customer marketing to ensure alignment on key initiative.

Knowledge & Experience:

5 years’ experience in Logistics and transportation industry

Previous direct responsibility for total P&L (including freight)

Experience involving International Transportation and knowledge of customs and export related documents

5 years Transportation Management System experience ; preferred implementation experience

Practical knowledge of industry/market trends in sourcing and procurement of fuel and mode options, especially truckload, less than truckload and intermodal

Proficient understanding of current Federal, State and International Transportation regulations

Demonstrated knowledge of transportation industry pricing standards, tariffs, Incoterms, NAFTA, freight industry rate structures and billing systems.

Ability to:

Negotiate effectively with logistics and transportation vendors, inside and outside the US

Collaborate with and gain buy-in from appropriate levels of the organization regarding logistics decisions and cost optimization projects

Manipulate, analyze and present data from multiple sources and across various formats

Accurately assess industry/market changes and implement mitigation strategies to reduce impact to business and/or customer satisfaction

Work independently with little direct supervision

Support company compliance with GMP’s and CFR Part 111 Dietary Supplement Regulations especially relating specifically to finished goods material handling

Think analytically, problem solve and have a solutions oriented approach

Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization

Build trust, relationships and work collaboratively at all levels

Be detail oriented in work performance

Make decisions at stated level of authority

Ability to teach and communicate the “whys” of regulations and guidelines

Proficiency in:

MS Office Suite (strong MS Excel and PPT skills required), ERP, Performance Management systems, Transportation Management Systems

Work Environment:

Work is primarily done in an office setting

Frequent warehouse environment exposure which includes noise, dust, forklifts, and fluctuations in temperature

Physical Requirements:

Stand, walk, climb stairs

Sitting at work stations for extended periods of time
