Job Title:                     Advisory and Impact Senior Manager

Reports to:                   Advisory and Impact Head of Department and SMT

Direct Reports:             1 x Research Analyst

Job Purpose

The Advisory and Impact team at BWB undertakes a range of work for charities, the public sector and private sector clients. You will take a lead on the development of the Impact Management practice, including working with members of the Advisory and Impact Management Team to set strategic direction for the development of this business area. The role will include leading on the delivery of:

  • Social and economic impact analysis/evaluation for clients including charities, social enterprises, corporate clients and public sector bodies;
  • Consultancy assignments linked to development of Theory of Change, development of strategy and development/revision of operational models to enhance impact; and
  • Working alongside other members of the team to deliver strategic and transactional projects (including mergers, acquisitions, and investment-raising projects) that include either or both of the above.

The Role

Key Responsibilities and Duties include:

  • Lead on the delivery of Impact Management projects
  • Take a leading role in the development of our growth strategy for, and day-to-day leadership of the Impact Management practice at BWB;
  • Review and maintain our delivery models and working methodologies and standards in line with best practice in social/economic evaluation;
  • Contribute to business development within Impact Management; and
  • Support other practice areas in delivery of projects that include Impact Management work streams.

Technical ability

  • Highly numerate and literate
  • Good grounding in economics and economic theory, and experience of economic evaluations
  • Strong knowledge of economic and social impact measurement approaches and experience of applying these in practice
  • Strong numerical analysis skills (and experienced user of programmes such as Excel) including ability to evaluate project savings arising from complex social interventions
  • Experience of working with large and complex datasets (including knowledge of legal and ethical standards for use of sensitive data)
  • Able to lead workshops, focus groups, interviews and semi-structured focus interviews that sometimes involve working with vulnerable people
  • Knowledge and experience of working with secondary research sources
  • Knowledge and experience of social research projects and methodologies
  • Ability to understand and synthesise diverse data/information sources and apply judgement to draw conclusions.
  • Able to write concisely and clearly
  • Quick learner and ability to identify new opportunities and solutions to fit with these
  • Able to apply existing skills to new projects or tasks
