The Field Representative is responsible for recruiting qualified, technically competent, aesthetically sensitive, and socially responsible students for exciting programs in the fields of architecture, design, construction management, and digital arts at NewSchool of Architecture & Design. This position will support the overall strategic plan for NewSchool enrollment within the specified territories of Southern California with emphasis on the San Diego area. The position will also support Central and Northern California when needed and nationally via the generation of high quality leads with a potential to convert into enrollments.

The Field Representative will be the local NewSchool representative to high schools, community colleges, military fairs, professional firms and other related businesses, as well as key associations and industry stakeholders. In this role, the Field Representative must have truly exceptional presentation, communication and organizational skills, as well as an obvious and infectious passion for the professional development of architecture, design, and the value of higher education.


  • Create, establish and maintain key relationships with high schools, community colleges, and other assigned organizations.

  • Plan, manage, and conduct onsite territory enrollment activities, including open houses, information sessions, organizational visits, conversion activities, in-service programs, guided tours, and other events within territory.

  • Understand and present NewSchool programs and other related degree program offerings to the targeted audience.

  • Publicize and market NewSchool by attending local, regional, and national conferences and events and participating in relevant architecture and design oriented activities in local communities.

  • Coordinate invitations, room set-up, registrations, and materials for each event with support from the Enrollment and Marketing teams.

  • Build relationships with current students as well as alumni to identify new group potential and new opportunities to present NewSchool programs.

  • Generate and work qualified leads.

  • Cooperate with other field staff and Directors of Marketing and Enrollment to plan appropriate and strategic territory recruitment efforts for all NewSchool degree programs.

  • Requires occasional presence at NewSchool as needed plus regular meetings/calls with Marketing, Field, and Enrollment teams.

  • Open to travel outside of territory throughout the year.

  • Ability to be flexible with schedule, including working some evenings and weekends as needed in support of events and other engagements.

  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.

  • Provide important feedback to management to ensure future success.

  • Ability to work independently and to self-direct his/her daily activities is essential.


  • Bachelor's degree required, with a background in architecture and/or design strongly preferred.

  • Must have 2-5 years of experience in outside sales, marketing, or admissions, preferably within the assigned territory.

  • Demonstrated success building strategic relationships with related organizations is highly desirable.

  • Must have truly exceptional presentation skills, and must be capable of delivering persuasive and presentations to both small and large groups.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal, and organization skills

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relations with prospective students, faculty, staff, and the public.

  • Ideally has experience working with high school and/or college students.

  • Significant travel (75% or greater) is required and fluctuates with seasonality and business needs.

  • Ability to work some Saturdays, Sundays, and evenings.

  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
