It all started in 1981 when Caue’s father, João, began dehydrating bananas from their backyard in Southern Brazil…

Barnana ® was founded in late 2012 by Caue Suplicy, Matt Clifford and Nik Ingersoll.

They set out with the goal of creating a brand synonymous with the curved yellow fruit we all know and love, the banana.

Why bananas? Well, bananas are the most consumed fruit in the US and they are also the most wasted.

Barnana ® is on a mission to end food waste on organic banana farms by upcycling the bananas that used to go to waste. Up to 20% of all bananas that are grown go to waste before ever reaching distribution. But why? Well, there are stringent export standards that leave the “imperfect” bananas without anyone to eat them so they get thrown away.

We’re growing fast. After just few years in business, Barnana ® can be found in over 12,000 retailers nationwide in the US including Whole Foods, Safeway, Starbucks, Costco and many others.

THE ROLE: EAST COAST REGIONAL SALES MANAGER

At Barnana ® we are on a constant quest to improve the efficacy of the food system by challenging the organization to reach new heights. This applies to everything we do especially having incredible leaders at all levels of the organization.

Based on the East Coast and reporting to the Vice President of Sales, the East Coast RSM will be responsible for all natural and grocery customers from Maine to Florida. The East Coast RSM will work in conjunction with distributors and broker network to track, implement, and improve sales in the specific territory. This is a hands-on role where leadership, initiative and energy level will make the difference. We are a small team of hungry entrepreneurs and are looking for someone who is driven, high-energy, lives an active healthy lifestyle, and a little weird to join us!

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Open new grocery accounts as well as manage and grow existing accounts.

• Develop relationships with category managers/buyers at key grocery accounts.

• Ensure broker reps and distributor reps are stocked with all the necessary tools to effectively communicate the brand values and sell product.

• Conduct ride-alongs and work with broker account managers and broker retail team. Attend all category reviews.

• Identify and execute new opportunities in the territory.

• Develop reporting methods and accountability standards to track, manage, and inspire Barnana brokers as well as UNFI, DPI, DSD, and Key account managers.

• Success at Barnana involves impactful display (end cap, secondary, points of interruption, etc.), so time spent working in the market at the store level is a must.

• Have fun! Develop deep and authentic personal relationships with all parties involved in the sales cycle.

• Instill the characteristic spirit of the company culture, values and beliefs to all partners involved in the sales cycle. Love your work, take ownership, and have fun!

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 4 years of sales experience calling on key East Coast Grocery & Natural Retailers (Wakefern, Wegman’s, Publix, Delhaize, etc.) Salty snack experience a plus

• Strong initiative and demonstrated leadership ability, not afraid to get hands dirty and be in the field

• Familiarity with a P&L and the ability to manage budgets and meet sales targets

• Ability and willingness to be in stores daily

• Experience working with both distributor-based and direct-ship customers and comfortable working with a variety of retailers

• Ability to use syndicated data to build a fact based selling presentation

• A high-energy values based individual who is passionate about sustainability and natural foods

• A team player, comfortable with ambiguity and deadline pressure.

• A fast-paced multi-tasking expert with strong cross-functional project management capabilities

• College degree preferred, however if you’re awesome - not necessary!

• Must live near a major airport within the defined territory.
