Over the last few years, S&C has begun a journey to elevate equity and diversity to the highest level of strategic priority and to also subject our practices to external scrutiny. The commitment manifests in improved employee training and cultural commitments to diversity, and on the search side of our consultancy, in continually advancing approaches to diversity in recruiting, such as:

  • Techniques like blind screening and carefully designed interview approaches which assess candidates solely upon ability to succeed
  • Outreach strategies that identify traditionally underrepresented communities and candidates
  • Direct advice to our clients on sensitive but important matters, such as how to suppress subtle biases in the candidate assessment process; We deliver this advice not from a stance of perfection, but rather as colleagues learning together

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Client Support (50-70%)

  • Working closely with project teams, support talent engagements from start to completion
  • Assist with project management including scheduling, follow-up, meeting preparation, and note-taking
  • Prepare for and participate in client calls/meetings, stakeholder interviews, candidate interviews, etc.
  • Provide support for project team’s communication with candidates, stewarding candidates’ experience throughout the engagement
  • Coordinate high-intensity outreach campaigns across multiple executive search engagements to source strong candidates; track the progress of campaigns and share data with project team
  • Gather data through interviews and secondary research, and share insights with project team
  • Draft high-impact presentations and workplans

Operations & Internal Activities (30-50%)

  • Provide ongoing support to the S&C Operations Team to increase efficiency of functions and processes at Schaffer&Combs, with an emphasis on S&C’s Talent practice (including support of S&C’s ATS system, JazzHR)
  • Business development work, including: assisting the management team with prospect research, scheduling of meetings, and tracking of outgoing communication to client prospects
  • Support in the management of S&C social media and external communications
  • Assist with ongoing internal initiatives and firm-wide meetings, including: scheduling, taking minutes, physical and digital filing
  • Contribute to development of S&C through personal skills and interests - i.e., brand and communications, operations, business development, etc.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of professional experience
  • Solutions-oriented problem solver with a startup mentality and ability to shift between liaising with clients to managing internal initiatives while maintaining excellence across all responsibilities
  • Passion for the social sector, talent and executive search, and/or diversity and inclusion in the workplace
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Google Drive products
  • Experience using Linkedin Recruiter or conducting Boolean-based research is a plus
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, oral, and written communication
  • Strong organizational, project and time management skills with demonstrated attention to detail
  • Self-starter who is comfortable in a close-knit, team-oriented setting
  • Accountable, detail-oriented team player who displays transparency, professionalism, and humility
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship

Compensation:

40 hours per week, paid Fellowship

Logistics:

  • Duration of Fellowship: 3 months
