General Purpose:


The Field Marketing Sub-Rep is a dynamic, fast-paced and exciting position that provides the opportunity to participate in a number of regional events as a field marketing team member for Klean Kanteen. Our field-based, event support position requires customer service experience with preference given to applicants with the following: experiential marketing, excellent customer service, and the ability to inspire and advocate the company mission through authentic and meaningful conversations with individuals and groups. The Field Marketing Sub-Rep is expected to support, under the guidance of the Field Marketing Rep, the Klean Kanteen presence at music festivals and outdoor/sporting events, often which require overnight camping and regional travel to and from events. This is an “as needed” event-to-event position, and is not a full time seasonal role.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the successful execution of events and promotions at designated events for which sub-rep has been contracted.
  • Model Klean Kanteen values and mission in all interactions.
  • Professionally represent Klean Kanteen while effectively addressing customer needs in the field.

Duties / Responsibilities to accomplish Essential Functions:
Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Event Management & Promotions:

  • Support execution of specific event strategy based on marketing/sales goals and objectives as dictated to the Field Marketing Rep from Assistant Marketing Manager, Director of Marketing & Brand and Director of Sales
  1. Ensures that Klean Kanteen core values as a B Corp, sustainability ethos and four pillars of giving are integrated into the event experience and execution
  2. Support and execute integration of non-profit partner events (i.e. clean ups, hikes, activations) at sponsored events within the territory, working with Marketing and Sustainability teams
  • Executes event operation tasks and logistics:
  1.  Participate in booth set up, operations, and tear down
  2. Assist in ensuring security at events
  3. Assist in reconciliation of regional event inventory through accurate point of sale transactions and assisting in inventory counts as directed by Field Marketing Rep
  4. Maintain event van, tents and water stations while onsite at events
  • Ensure all marketing resources are displayed in a timely and effective manner to best support increased brand awareness
  • Onsite responsibility for participating in all event product sales during scheduled shifts
  • Participate, as directed, in efforts to capture consumer feedback and research from the field, including email list opportunities, product feedback and sustainability data for key projects including lifecycle assessment for Klean products.

Community Relations:

  • Engaging and welcoming to all customers and potential new partners.
  • While working events, this position is responsible for ensuring that all visitors understand the brand and product value through communicating key stories and high level talking points about Klean Kanteen’s approach to business as a B-Corp and our philosophy around giving (including key non-profit partnerships).

Customer Service:

  • Responsible for adhering to pack-in and out procedure for events and post-event cleanup
  • Ensures all equipment, inventory and materials are professional, clean and in excellent working order
  • Represents Klean Kanteen in a highly professional and courteous manner to event organizers, vendors, other temporary staff and customers. Adheres to Klean’s dress code and code of ethics policies while representing Klean Kanteen
  • Responds to customers’ inquiries by demonstrating and utilizing excellent product knowledge
  • Acts as Brand Ambassador at all events
  • Keeps detailed records of customer inquiries and requests and passes them along to the appropriate parties
  • Executed projects, and other duties as assigned
  • Casual professional attire required at all sponsored events as a means of positively representing the brand

Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Actively supports a culture of accountability while maintaining the camaraderie and trust valued by the staff and leadership team of Klean Kanteen.
  • Fosters a culture of transparency to the team, event coordinators, event partners, local vendors, temporary event staff, and consumers of Klean Kanteen.
  • Is a champion and advocate of the company mission in all interactions with our customers and staff

Job Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

  • Ability to travel to events sub-rep is contracted to support
  • Proven ability to handle the physical rigors and use of basic tools to set up and break down special event booths and water stations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer service skills with internal and external customers
  • Ability to make good decisions - think quickly, act decisively and inform others
  • Analytical, problem-solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to work independently; self-starter and self-motivated
  • Ability to communicate professionally with all types of customers; people at all levels of the organization and external contacts
  • Basic understanding of OSHA requirements

Education or Formal Training:

  • High school graduate
  • B.A. in marketing, environmental studies or relevant work experience preferred. Current students of these majors encouraged to apply.

Experience:

Direct or relevant combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities in qualifying.

  • ­ Previous experience in event marketing preferred.
  • ­ Previous experience working collaboratively with event vendors, agencies and organizations preferred.
  • ­ Passion for, and interest in sustainability, reusable solutions and the mission of Klean Kanteen.
  • ­ Outdoor industry, or natural products experience preferred.
