WHO WE ARE
HiMama is on a mission to empower early childhood educators with tools that improve developmental outcomes for children aged 0-6, and to educate parents about the importance of their work. At HiMama, we make positive change in the world everyday, celebrate wins, and have fun doing so! We’re on the hunt for a thoughtful and intelligent HR Manager with a can-do attitude to help us scale our people operations while staying true to HiMama’s core values:
# Be a good person
# Own positive change
# Work hard and win
As one of our first HR hires, you will be working in a tightly-knit team that supports rapid headcount growth across the entire organization (100-strong by 2020).

WHAT YOU WILL OWN
Here are some of the most important things that will fall under your domain in your first 3 months. To be successful, you will need to be both strategically-minded enough to prioritize and shape the overall HR plan, and action-oriented enough to quickly execute your plan.

# Employee experience and administration. From offer letter to retirement party, you will make sure every employee’s journey at HiMama is seamlessly positive. Examples of some key milestones / activities you will manage include onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, leave management (vacations, sick days, longer-term leaves), payroll, birthday & anniversary celebrations, transfers / promotions, and offboarding
# Company culture. Tactically, you will manage things like our pipeline of ongoing team events, updates to our employee handbook and new hire package, and celebration of company milestones. Strategically, you will keep an ongoing pulse on our culture and be responsible for bringing us back on track if we ever veer away from our core values. You will also work very closely with our Talent Manager to proudly showcase what working at HiMama is like, and together oversee our external employer brand
# Employee engagement. You will own and improve on key initiatives such as professional development, career pathing, employee recognition, and be responsible for measuring general employee engagement and keeping it strong. You will also be the go-to person whenever employees have feedback on things we can be doing better
# Compliance. You will not only ensure statutory compliance in our HR policies, but also oversee individual compliance against our HR policies. Be prepared to help us shape our Code of Conduct as a first major project
# The HR budget. That’s a lot of things we just listed. As you prioritize which to tackle first, you will make your proposals with our budget in mind. At what point do we implement an HRIS, and how much should it cost? How should we allocate our professional development resources? Are our company event proposals in line with what we’ve done in the past and with other startups? These are the kind of questions you will naturally ask yourself as you help us maximize ROI on our HR dollars

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR We’re keeping it simple here, with only the things we truly care about.
# Must have at least 2 years of experience in HR functions listed above, with strong performance reviews and a history of role progression # Must have post-secondary education in HR, Business, or a related field (CHRP / CHRL designations considered)
# Must be a good person who’s eager to own positive change, and not afraid to roll up their sleeves, work hard, and win (we take our core values very seriously!)
