Whole Whale’s Digital Marketing Fellowship helps prepare recent graduates and young professionals for full-time employment in the nonprofit and social impact sector by providing hands-on experience and skill-building with digital marketing. The Digital Marketing Fellow for Winter/Spring 2020 will focus on developing skills in web analytics, advertising, search engine optimization, content marketing, and more.
Whole Whale’s Digital Marketing Fellowship is a 4 month program, where fellows are expected to work 4 or 5 days per week (days flexible) out of our office in DUMBO. Fellows will earn a weekly stipend for hours worked.
Following the completion of their Fellowship program, Fellows will have the opportunity to apply for a full-time role with Whole Whale, dependent on performance and client needs. We’d like to consider candidates who have an interest in possibly joining our team full-time.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will vary depending on individual project assignments and needs, but core responsibilities are likely to include:
Analysis + Reporting
- Find actionable insights for clients using data from multiple sources, including web analytics, customer databases, social media, and search tools
- Create dashboards and reports in Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, Sheets, and other platforms to help clients better leverage their data to inform digital efforts
- SEO + Content Marketing
- Write and edit digital content (e.g. web content, blog posts, or email) for both Whole Whale and client websites
- Aid in SEO keyword research and content modeling for WW and our clients
Digital Advertising + Social Media
- Help plan and execute Facebook, YouTube, Google and other digital advertising campaigns for WW and clients (with a careful eye on every detail and checkbox)
- Think creatively to develop new campaign ideas and A/B tests to optimize for ad success, including updates to ad copy, images, and audience targeting
- Create and manage strategies for nonprofit Google Ad Grant accounts, including determining search budgets, bid strategies, keyword targeting, and ad messaging
Communication + Capacity-Building
- Create digital marketing recommendation and training documents for clients
- Manage individual workflow and assist client managers in the clear presentation and interpretation of deliverables
- Research and determine new ways to increase nonprofit digital impact
- Write and edit articles and guides on relevant nonprofit issues and opportunities that interest you and contribute to WW social media accounts
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate has these qualities:
- Data-driven and problem-solving mindset
- Creative and driven by a need to iterate, think outside the box, and try new things to deliver even better results

- Content writing & editorial/copywriting experience and a meticulous editorial eye a plus

- Passionate about social causes
- Desire to learn. Seriously, we know that everyone starts from somewhere – we’re interested in people eager to learn
- Experience with digital marketing in the nonprofit sector, such as managing nonprofit social channels, writing nonprofit emails or other content, or managing social ads
