Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Position Specifics:
This position is full-time with a compensation structure of salary, ranging from $50,000 - $75,000, that will be determined based on experience and skill set. The position is available immediately after the interview process. Morton Solar & Electric is proud to provide the highest level of benefits with IBEW health insurance, which is available after the 90 day probationary/training period. Required core competencies listed below.
Responsibilities:
- Test, troubleshoot and evaluate solar PV systems
- Review specifications and recommend engineering or manufacturing changes to achieve solar design objectives
- Develop standard operating procedures and quality or safety standards for solar installation work
- Provide technical direction or support to installation teams during installation, start-up, testing, system commissioning, or performance monitoring
- Perform computer simulation of solar photovoltaic (PV) generation system performance or energy production to optimize efficiency
- Develop design specifications and functional requirements for residential, commercial, or industrial solar energy systems or components
- Create plans for solar energy system development, monitoring, and evaluation activities
- Create electrical single-line diagrams, panel schedules, or connection diagrams for solar electric systems using computer-aided design (CAD) software
- Create checklists for review or inspection of completed solar installation projects
- Establish Solar PV basis of design including module selection, string sizing, ground coverage ratio, inverter selection, inverter power factor requirements, inverter loading ratio, and cable sizing
- Design solar PV systems, including 1-line diagrams and array layouts
- Closely collaborate with project development and construction teams in the design, development and construction of Solar PV systems
- Apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices to tasks, particularly when analyzing current technical tools, and evaluating tools
- Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and problem solving
Our Ideal Candidate Has:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited university
- Must be proficient in AutoCAD and related Autodesk software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Willingness and ability to clearly define objectives, exercise sound technical judgment, take on increasing levels of responsibility and to thrive in a small, flexible and dynamic work environment
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal skills, including the ability to communicate in a positive manner with project managers, other engineering/design team members, management and installation contractors to foster an environment of superior coordination.
- Good problem solving and critical thinking abilities and a proactive work ethic. Must take accountability for one's own body of work, closing each project by design completion efficiently, while maintaining accuracy and strict attention to detail.
- Strong ability to apply innovative and creative skills to problem solving
- Experience with on-site troubleshooting of technology and automation of manual processes
- Knowledge of National Electric Code is desired
