About Teatulia Organic Teas

A great-tasting tea that’s better for the land, its people and the environment? A lofty goal, yes. And one Teatulia Organic Teas is proud to have achieved. Their organic tea garden is cultivated using only natural farming practices, and the revolutionary education, health and cattle-lending programs Teatulia Organic Teas has created provide a bright future for the Bangladeshi families who help produce their tea. And all of Teatulia’s teas are minimally packaged in sustainable, compostable style. This all adds up to a better tea experience.

It was important to us to allow our consumers to see and understand our business practices as well as our commitment to sustainability. To receive B Corp certification represents our values and helps support and sustain these values into the future. We only surround ourselves with like-minded individuals and companies – those that believe in giving back and making the world a better place. B Corporation’s values are aligned with everything we believe in.

The Change We Seek®

Teatulia Organic Teas owns their own tea garden – one of the largest organic gardens in the world, and all of their teas are 100% USDA-certified and Rainforest Alliance certified. No chemicals, unnatural irrigation, or machinery is ever used in their garden.

Teatulia believes in giving back to communities worldwide. In Bangladesh, they have established education, health, and cattle lending programs. After work, the female garden workers are able to go to classes taught by graduate students to learn to read and write. A computer lab was opened to initiate IT education in the community, and a library is also being built in Bangladesh to support the community. They provide medicinal shots and herbs to the neighboring villages in order to maintain the health of the community; latrines are distributed and maintained free of charge. Recognizing the need for children to engage in stimulating outdoor play, Teatulia provides footballs, volleyballs, and cricket bats free of cost to primary and secondary schools and local clubs. In the US, they are known for donating their products to charities and nonprofits nationwide to assist in raising money. Because of our social responsibility and philanthropic works, Teatulia has been featured in Newsweek and CNN Money.

Teatulia’s commitment to sustainability carries through to their compostable packaging and pyramid and round tea bags, water based inks, and labels made from recycled paper. Their innovative retail canisters are 100% compostable.  All other tea packaging currently sold in the market must rely on a plastic wrapper, a metal tin or a non-recyclable foil lining to keep products fresh.  However, Teatulia helped to pioneer a more earth friendly packaging solution.  Each canister as well as the outer labels are made from Post Consumer Waste.  The labels are printed with water-based inks and are cleanly designed with bright, eye-catching colors like fuchsia, lime green, and eggplant offsetting the light brown paper canister.  All adhesives used are also water based and environmentally friendly.  This next-generation package has the added value of a revolutionary, compostable moisture barrier. This barrier allows the tea to stay fresh while eliminating the need for additional packaging. The tea bags themselves are a compostable, unbleached paper or corn silk. Furthermore, the round paper tea bags are free of unnecessary wrappers, strings, tags or staples. Consumers can feel better about a Teatulia Tea purchase. Fewer resources are used and there is no waste.
